Edited on Thu Mar-11-04 04:46 PM by anarchy1999
it should be......

"HOW BIG CAN WE MAKE IT BE!!"

Let us Rock The World.

Sorry, I'm excited about the possibilities.

The world is looking to us. Us, as in everyday Americans, everyday folk. The rest of the world, I believe, ordinary citizens just like you and me are waiting for you and I to make it happen.

Take out the log first from your own eye.

1. It should be how big will the after party be!
When we win in Nov, I think that we should all throw huge parties in celebration.

We are saving this country from the closest it has ever gotten to facism, we deserve it!!!

I also think that after we win we should forever celebrate Nov. 2, it should be our own DU holiday.

2. No parties after Nov, because that's when the work really begins
We need to be wary of falling into the same trap as we did with Clinton, believing that everything will be OK just because there's a Dem in the WH.

None of that will matter if we let up the fight one bit after Nov. None of it.

3. Maybe so, but after four years of Bush, I think we all deserve
a small honeymoon.

6. No kidding.. We need at least one day to party
I don't think I'll be able to help myself. One day of serious celebration then back to work cleaning up the mess Bush left us.

7. anarchy1999, don't be discouraged

by the lukewarm response here. Folks in my community are gearing up for a big rally. DU does not well reflect the activist community. I've been posting info on 3-20 for over a month here. See my last thread as an example:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=1145266

A few people are very enthusiastic, but in general it seems protesting the war right now must too fringe for the overground.
Pardon the sarcasm but after the last peace march in DC we had a large crowd of people here
who could do nothing better to than criticize the way the protesters looked on TV (hippies etc.)

I'm sorry if I sound a bit negative but I've already posted the 3-20 announcement a half a dozen times. On the other hand, I can tell you that there is a lot of interest and energy around March 20 out there!
A lot!
The Fayetteville rally promises to be a truly historic event, with Veterans, military families and 9-11 families taking center stage. Everyone participating in 3-20 will be in solidarity.
So keep up the good work but don't be discouraged by the DU response, or lack of. There is a thread in the Activism forum where people who are involved with the 3-20 rallies are conversing:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=106&topic_id=4583&mesg_id=4583

and other threads also. PEACE!

8. Thanks for your support and kind words.
Please help me keep this event front and center. We have an opportunity to change the world. Let's do it.

I'm not giving up, you aren't. Let's do all we can to get everyone we can out and on the streets on March 20, 2004. We can take our country back if we only decide to do so.

Thanks so much, once again, for your support.

Spread this message far and wide.

Just imagine the potential we have.

11. Hey Anarchy....
You ever see West Side Story? When Action starts getting jumpy before the rumble?

"Boy, boy, crazy boy,
Get cool, boy!
Got a rocket in your pocket,
Keep coolly cool, boy!
Don't get hot,
'Cause man, you got
Some high times ahead.
Take it slow and Daddy-O,
You can live it up and die in bed!

Boy, boy, crazy boy!
Stay loose, boy!
Breeze it, buzz it, easy does it.
Turn off the juice, boy!
Go man, go,
But not like a yo-yo schoolboy.
Just play it cool, boy,
Real cool!"

I'm gonna call you Action from now on ;)

See you in the streets.

12. Please - Don't call me "Action". Thanks, but no thanks.
You might find me in the streets, but let up.

Go find

"Somethings happening here,

What it is

Ain't exactly clear.

Stop now, what's that sound,

Everybody look what's going round............"

Right after Genoa..........

I posted the words to this song on IndyMedia, in August of 2001.

I knew something like 9/11 was coming.

Then they showed up on DU, because RB Ham put the same up on his website.

STOP NOW, WHAT'S THAT SOUND,
EVERYBODY LOOK
WHAT'S GOING ROUND............""

I even asked RB about it.
How could he post up what I had already?
Like hearts, Like Minds.

14. just yankin' ya, Anarchy
certainly no offense intended. I actually hum that tune to myself when things get hot and I need to keep my head.

Its funny, isn't it, that for an anthem we need to go back to the early 70's. How is it we've not found our own? I think its because during that period there was a convergance of counter-culture and political activism that we do not have today. And maybe thats why we do not see the enthusiasm we once did.
