Big Business or Big Government

Which is a greater threat to the average American?

Joe Liberman just repeated once again the old saw that was used by DLC and embraced by the Neo-cons that the “era of big government is over.”

It raised this question, which is the greater threat to the well fare of the average American big government or big business. At one time we had three countervailing forces, big labor, big business and big government. During the 60s, 70s, 80s,and 90s the dynamic tension between labor and business was eliminated as government once again siding with big business emasculated and marginalized labor. The people will stand naked without the ombudsman of big government.

Even now Bush through nominations of Neo-con pro-business judges is intending to deny the judicial system as an venue for the people’s compliant about the behavior of big business.

The next question that is always unasked for those like Liberman, who like to declare the era of big government is over, is “what now, who will protect the people?”

1. As things stand, both. Bush is THE threat, though.
Bush* wants big government to keep the dissenters - hell, everybody - in a noose.

He's also giving more and more "freedoms" to big businesses and tolerating their revolting actions and having the sheer gall to support foreign outsourcing, in turn blaming American citizens for not knowing enough. Bush should be impeached for that despicable baseless lie of a comment alone. Bush is a vile little insect not worthy of attention, let alone respect.

Dunno. The accountant book-cooking that got so many big companies into trouble (that the media has quietly buried) started in the mid-late 90s; if big government was there to regulate their actions, today's economic situation may or may not be somewhat better.

But I needn't say it, Bush's actions prove how evil he is.

2. Holy Joe has helped to create the new corporate big government
through the Patriot Act and the Department of Homeland Gestapo.

To answer your original question, I kinda feel nostalgic for the good old days when the social safety net was intact and that there would be neat things that I have been paying for for years like Social Security and Medicare waiting for me when I reach my dotage. If what was big government, I want it back.

Under the busholini regime, however, government is run by big business. The big government that they will allow lies in the areas that most directly pay back the stockholders of Bushco.

Therefore, I see the whole Bush/business cabal as the threat. Give me back the Great Society.

3. The era of big government is over?
Really? Has anyone told Canada or Europe? Was there a ceremony or something? LOL

If the era of big government is over, fine. Let's cut the defense budget in half.
