MATTHEWS:...Is John Kerry more of an aristocrat than the president is, in terms of his background? They...went to prep school. They went to Ivy League schools. They come from distinguished families...So how can you attack John Kerry as an elitist if the president is not one?
BOSSIE: Well, we‘re not saying that George Bush is not a man of wealth and means...George W. Bush was a baseball club owner...John Kerry is seen as a yacht club guy...George W. Bush is...a guy who the American people know and...have decided they like...We‘re educating the American people as to see who John Kerry really is.

MATTHEWS:...(O)ne...went to Andover and the other...went to St. Paul‘s. They both went to Yale. They were both in...Skull and Bones. They both had big-shot fathers...One...joined the military, one joined the Guard. Why can you say that John Kerry was somehow some aristocrat if Bush isn‘t?...
BOSSIE: No. Exactly. John Kerry is trying to—this is an ad that John Edwards wished he could have run in the primaries. Look. John Kerry is a guy who‘s out there running as an average Joe, a man of the people. He is not...

MATTHEWS: (Then)...(w)ho is (Kerry)?
BOSSIE: He is a rich, liberal elitist from Massachusetts.

MATTHEWS: As opposed to a rich conservative from Texas.
BOSSIE: Chris, you‘re harping on something the American people already understand. They already know it...the American people don‘t know John Kerry...The real issue here is he was ranked No. 1 liberal in the United States Senate by “National Journal.” That will be the next thing.

MATTHEWS: OK...Let‘s go to my new friend here, Patrick Guerriero...

---------------

Heaven knows I don't hesitate to jump on Tweety when he screws up, so the least I can do is prop the occasions when he does his job in spite of himself. He pointed out the embarrassingly obvious flaw in this aspect of the Bush campaign strategy not once but THREE times, and Bossie didn't take the hint. Thanks, Tweety, for putting a nail in the Pretzel-Dunce's coffin--and without really trying!

1. Tonight Tweety was hard on the repub ad guy
Tweety asked the repub ad guy when did Kerry ask the UN to defend the United States. The repub add says that Kerry would have waited until the UN said it was OK to defend the United States. The repub could not answer and Tweety kept at him. Finally Tweety concluded that the repub ad was not accurate.

2. That was great!
I heard that exchange and came to only one conclusion about why Bush is seen as an "average Joe" by his supporters -- because he's dumb. And they relate.

4. The public doesn't know who George Bush* really is, either
I can't wait for that new book that describes how his persona was manufactured for public consumption.
