Faux News deperately, pathetically trying to hide Spanish anger |
|
Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 03:10 PM by rumguy
at their government for supporting the Iraq war...
They keep saying the crowds are showing solidarity with the victims. That is true, what they don't mention is the anger with their government for supporting the Iraq war.
Faux is not playing it straight, they are trying to hid the facts from the American people.
Ninety-percent of the Spanish people were against that war. And now they are pissed off...
CNN is mostly being fair in their coverage.
I hate Faux News.
ON EDIT: These are anti-government protests - they think the government was not initially honest about the fact that it was islamic extremists - wanted to hide that cuz of elections. They are also pissed cuz they see this as a result of Shrub's war...look at the signs - this is an anti-war, peace crowd...and they are pissed...the conservative party's credibility has been wounded...

Goes right to what I posted in GD about an hour ago---if they start going after their government for supporting us and bringing this upon them, other nations will follow, and this is not good for Georgie. It goes right to want Dems have said: his baseless invasion of Iraq has made all of us less safe. No wonder Fox doesn't want to report it. I'll bet there's a cold sweat breaking out on Rove's back right now---and if stupid is still sober on one of his weekend getaways, maybe a trickle is beginning down his back.

2. Well, you know it would do them no good |

To show that there are places out there where the people get together en masse and protest the government, and it has any effect... That there are places where people pay attention to what their gov't is doing, etc. Proud of the citizens of Spain for doing it, and glad to hear CNN's doing an ok job covering it!

4. About these elections... |
|
Remember where Poppy Bush, Norm Schwarzkopf and Miami Mayor Alex Penelas were during the 2000 U.S. elections?
In Spain.
I wonder if it was a voting machine sales pitch.

Which raises a question: why do either of us even turn Fox on? At all? Because it's not like I'm going to flip through and be surprised to find accurate reporting on Fox.

You're right to ask that question. If people would refuse to even watch Faux, their ratings would go right down. I think that the more people keep watching the whore media, the more the whore media will keep dishing out garbage.

|
Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 03:24 PM by revcarol
Witness the bombing in Bali at a hotel where almost exclusively Australians stayed...and now Spain with Aznar even hosting Bush/Blair while they plotted their dastardly deeds...
The war in Iraq made our coalition's people LESS SAFE.Al Qaeda is now getting all the recruits it wants.

while MSNBC was interviewing a terrorism expert for an opinion on whether it was ETA, Al Qaeda, or a combination, Fox was saying it was "Moroccan extremists." So if you believe that what's on Fox is what Bushco wants you to believe ...

on Maranitty and Colmes the republican spokespeople were trying to counteract any of that kind of talk before it has a chance to start.
They were actually intimating that the Spain massacre "somehow" shows that bombing iraq was right.
They said that the world is a dangerous place, taking offensive action is necessary, preemption is right and that "somehow" Iraq was necessary and right.
Sadly, neither the host, nor the Kerry spokespeople thought to question any of it. I sat there wondering if anyone might have the guts to ask what bombing Iraq has to do with war on terrorism.
And just as importantly I wondered if anyone would go a step further and ask whether the spain bombings might possibly be the first blowback operation in response to iraq.

Faux only one w/out weekend programming on. Expert comes on, says new splinter groups have emerged, for instance Sunni's in Iraq with a new group I won't try to spell.
News lady says "Doesn't that prove Bush's contention that Iraq and AQ were in cahoots al along?"
And expert agrees. Having just said the groups were new.
I never thought I'd live long enough to see this type of shit.
Oh and while I'm typing, news lady asks "Do we need some sort of Marshall Plan for the entire Mideast?"
WTF?

14. This is how Faux is spinning this. . . |
|
watched this afternoon to see how they were covering it and once again, Faux is spinning in the total opposite direction of the way that CNN & MSNBC were covering the story once the arrests were made. According to Murdoch's trained monkeys, it would seem that Spain, as our great ally, was targeted by terrorists because of their support for the US and our Iraq War, which is, of course, why it is all the Democrats fault for opposing the war! And why, of course, John Kerry is not the right person to lead this country for the next four years--we need the "steady, intelligent, thoughtful Bush for another four wars. . uh. . years." And yes, the Democrats need to get our head out of the sand and support the president; we're not patriotic; we refuse to face reality; we can't be trusted with the country. . . . yada, yada, yada, yada (I'm sure you can guess the rest).

Really that is weak, pathetic spin even by Faux News standards.
It won't work. They're all in a freefall. They are all going down. Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Faux, buh-bye, don't let the door slam on your way out you lying, crooked bastards.

Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 07:10 PM by neebob
I can't see how anyone thinks that. Even my mom, who never watches anything but Fox, realizes he's swaggering jerk, and I doubt he'd be anywhere near the top of her list of smart people. She just likes him because he's against all the bad things like abortion and gayness and nakedness and sex and swearing on television and not wailing on bad guys that have been making her life a living hell since the fifties.
Intelligent and thoughtful? Damn, that's amazing. Steady? Sure, in the sense that he can be counted on to do the worst possible wrong thing in every situation.

I have noticed they don't even (pretend) to be fair and balanced any more. Geraldo used to be a liberal, now he is at Faux and is a cheerleader for the war in Iraq, what a whore. Then there's the Beltway Boys wasn't one of those assholes supposed to be a Democrat, I can't tell which one it is? Tony Snow fills in for Slush Limbaugh at times, how in the hell can he do an impartial news report. What if Dan Rather filled in for Al Frankin, the Repugs would go nuts. When they have discussions now they have like three Republicans all giving their opinion and no Democrats. If I go to the gym or to the mall it's always on all the TV's.

I heard the same spin regarding these protests on BBC World the other night (protesting to show solidarity for the victims, etc.).
They're mad as hell and they're not going to take it anymore.
Neither should we.

I was flipping back between FAUX and CNN who were both covering the protests. You could clearly read the signs in the background and yet FAUX continued to say that they were Spaniards just peacefully protesting the bombings. Quite Orwellian.
