"Selective skills" draft in the works.... |
|
Two articles... http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/03/13/MNG905K1BC1.DTLThe government is taking the first steps toward a targeted military draft of Americans with special skills in computers and foreign languages.
The Selective Service System has begun the process of creating the procedures and policies to conduct such a targeted draft in case military officials ask Congress to authorize it and the lawmakers agree to such a request.http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/164693_draft13.html...more... Ummm...oh shit! :wow: I happen to have BOTH of these "skills" that they are looking for. Oh shit! Oh shit! Oh shit!

2. How many people know you are bilingual? |
|
And what is the language? My nephew speaks fluent German, but somehow I don't think they'll be looking for him. Hope your second language is French!

and in some cases the WRONG people know it... Spanish, Portuguese, some French and Russian. In general, I can pick up languages pretty quickly.

and you have a point in your favor since you speak French. A lot of folks are checking the Maple Leaf in case the election is canceled.

from what I have heard, Canada now will "return" all Americans that have seeked refuge on their soil. There was some sort of agreement not long after 9/11 and I really don't have all the details.
I was kidding about Canada. I'm looking further away...MUCH further away...like New Zealand. ;)

I may go there if our country disappears. I won't go there if they reinstate the draft... If I get drafted, I get drafted. If I die, I die. But then, if I don't die, nobody'll ever be able to say "shut up you stupid liberal and support the troops!" cause I'll be able to say "I'm a veteran you retarded right-wing bastard". Heh. Speaking truth to power and all that.
I'm very good with computer skills and have some skill in Japanese, which I'm taking classes for and plan to continue to learn. If we go to war with North Korea, Japan will be one of our most important allies, so that'll be a "plus" for me.
Probably won't do that, though. Much as we like to consider ourselves the only remaining military superpower, us vs. North Korea would be a pretty decent fight, and China would certainly help North Korea out. In other words, we'd get our asses handed to us.
But then, when has that ever bothered *? If he gets back in this year, he'll probably go after Iran and Syria next, then in, oh, July or August 2008, San Francisco will get wiped off the face of the planet by a 'North Korean' nuke. Sorry folks, can't have you voting in a new president this year, we're at war!
