I am from California, and this is the "bullshit" response I received from Senator Feinstein, I will never vote for her again. It is the same crap she responded when she supported the medicare drug plan:
Thank you for your recent letter regarding radio and television censorship. I appreciate your taking the time to write me on this important issue.
In my lifetime, I have watched an increase in gratuitous violence and its glorification in the media, indecent sexually explicit material, and the use of vulgar language on the radio and on television. I believe that some material is simply not appropriate for all audiences. Federal law governs what material can be broadcast and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has the responsibility to enforce those laws.
I understand that you are against any type of censorship and that you feel that the government is dictating what people can and cannot watch. Your opinion regarding censorship in broadcasting pertains to the balance between two important principles. On the one hand, Congress and the Supreme Court, as well as society, recognize that there is an interest in protecting the well-being of minors. On the other hand, the First Amendment's protection of free speech makes it difficult to determine what constitutes "indecency" or "obscene" material. Thus, although broadcasters may have agreed not to show certain types of programs in certain time slots, there is still room for debate between reasonable and fair minded people about the broadcasting choices cable, radio and television companies have made. " I want to thank you for letting me know your feelings on this issue. Please know that I will continue to monitor the FCC's enforcement of our laws governing indecent material but I will also make sure that any rulings and restrictions made will not infringe on the First Amendment's protection of free speech. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact my Washington, DC office at (202) 224-3841. Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein United States Senator "

1. This is one of the few democratic party groups that I cannot stand... |
|
The democrats who are pro-censorship and go on campaigns against violent video games and other such bullshit. My favorite was Katherine Kennedy Townsend who wanted dodgeball banned in schools. Some people really need to get a life.

2. You use to be able to trust democrats on this issue, but no more. |
|
I don't know if its the result of political correctness or what but dems seem to have become as or almost as pro-censorship as republicans are. Its just that one party is more obsessed with violence and the other is with sex.
This recent hysteria over the Janet Jackson flap and the censorship bills going through congress really is angering though. Only 21 democrats voted against it, and one republican. If it passes the senate and is signed into law it will chill free expression on broadcast tv and radio like never before: 500 thou dollar fines for companies and performers, revoking licenses, etc... They really have gone way overboard.
I'm very curious to see how Kerry handles his vote in the senate. I despise Bush, but I must say if he goes along with the crowd it's gonna leave a really bad taste in my mouth. I'm hoping somebody loads up the bill with poisons pills or whatever and kills this terrible legislation.

4. Define "indecent" and "obscene" |
|
and then define "freedom"
I believe I can choose what I wish to watch/read/listen to without the help of my government.

5. i really dont get this |
|
i dont want filth and disgust on every channel thru out the day. and i dont think we should have to have that everywhere we go. i understand it will be on the cable channels but to have it everywhere. i dont have issue with there not being cussing and nudity at 4 in the afternoon for children to watch.
i have to assume the people that are having issue with this is young adults who have no kids. cause i dont know any parent that want to unleash hollywood on their children.
and i fuckin cuss wherever i want to cuss (except around childen) so dont go to the automatic dismissal of me being a fuckin prude, cause i am just not. lol lol

She lost me a long time ago, and I wrote her about it, yet she continues to disappoint me as I type. Those ads of hers following Gov, Schpecker and endorsing hisself and his props, I found totally disgusting and more than that just telling the rest of us taxpayers, tough s---.
