laddies! The bushies are coming, the bushies are coming! Just subsitute IRAN for IRAQ and you have the IDENTICAL BS rhetoric.

Powell Says World Cannot Be Idle on Iran

WASHINGTON - Secretary of State Colin Powell put Iran on notice Sunday that other countries will not "just sit by idly" while Tehran pursues building nuclear weapons.

Iran announced Saturday it was indefinitely barring international inspections of its nuclear program. The move was a protest by a resolution by the U.N. atomic agency's governing body that censured Tehran for hiding suspicious activities.

"We're worried about Iran and we have brought a great deal of international pressure to bear," Powell said.

Iran insists its nuclear activities are for the generation of electricity. The United States suspects Iran is undertaking a secret program to build nuclear weapons.

A resolution passed Saturday by the International Atomic Energy Agency praised Iran's increased openness to inspections but deplored recent discoveries of uranium enrichment equipment and other suspicious activities Tehran had not revealed.

1. My God
what has happened to this man? Did I just give him credit before for being the "smart one" of the group (not saying much, I know), or is this his true color? Geez, if I had been made to look the fool like Powell did in front of the UN, I'd be hiding in my own spider hole. What an embarrassment.

4. He's Nothing But A Good Old Boy
All this moaning over the supposed "Noble" Colin is a Crock by any other name. He is an embedded member of the Neo-Cons who has been rewarded handsomely well in The Bush Nepotism Scheme (Son Michael Head of FCC)

If this life-long Repuke had any dignity he would have bailed out of this pit of snakes a long time ago.

So He's just a minor war criminal

P.S. : Hey Colin ... Nice speech @ the UN last year

6. have you read the Paul O'Neil book? (by Ron Suskind)
It becomes pretty clear that O'Neil, Powell and (in O'Neils opinion)
Whitman, were chosen by the bushies
to show they were more centrist than they really are...

O'Neil escaped as did Whitman
Powell seems to be caught in the trap
yes, much like a spider I would say

8. You hit the nail on the head
chimpy cried wolf, and now, there would have to be incredibly damning, incontrovertable evidence to march off to war. Even if the allies were on board, Congress and the American people are not going to repeat that mistake.

If there is one reason I can offer (of course there are dozens) not to vote for bush it would be the fact that he led this country needlessly into a pre-emptive war.

7. Something snapped in Powell a year ago...
He had been defying the WH by encouraging UN participation, saying containment was working in Iraq, etc. He changed his tune overnight.
I wonder what happened?
