About What Spain Attack Means:
I consider the current suggestion by certain right wing pundits that we delay the election the most dangerous move to date. It is therefore imperative, I believe, that we get the word out that al Qaida was not responsible for this turnaround, but that the citizens of Spain were just making known desires that have been evidenced since the beginning of the war in Iraq, ie., that Spain not join in that war and they would not support a leader who advocated them joining in that war. This is NOT something new; NOT a mass turnaround of minds brought on by the recent attack. This vote has been brewing for a while; it is simply our own arrogance to believe that these people supported America's decision to unilaterally attack Iraq, in the first place; and the outcome of Spain's election is simply a refutation of that arrogant assumption.

In fact, MOST of the countries that supported us in this war were pressured into doing so, and MOST of them will evidence the same sort of reversal of alliegances, when the time comes to put their current leadership be put to the electoral test.

I have written a letter to the editors of my local paper: The Houston Chronicle, regarding this matter. I would suggest that others do so, as well.
