They're playing an interview with Brit Hume and he keeps saying "George and I....." or just "George." Isn't that odd? I don't recall a vice-president, instead of saying "the president and I" saying "George and I." What is that about?

his dummy Charlie McCarthy

4. I think it's nice he's on a first-name basis with his servants...

Everybody makes Dick out to be some kind of ogre, but he's not all bad. He calls * "George" instead of something like "Chimpy" or "Whistle-ass", at least.

That's respect.

5. Clearly,

It shows the true power dynamic in the White House. The CEO refers to his employees by their first name.

7. I think you're right.
I was startled when I heard it because, even though it was Bush, it seemed so disrespectful. I can't imagine Gore being inteviewed in their eight years and saying, "Bill and I..."

8. You mean, like the way a father would address his son?
Yes, that is very, very, very, very, very odd.
Quite strange, too.

10. Yes, that is odd.
I notice on "West Wing" that everyone addresses Martin Sheen as "Mr. President". Even in informal situations. They never call him "Jed". I assume that reflects the reality of WH protocol.

I guess Cheney's calling him "George" shows who's in charge.

11. Guys, wasn't he referring to
George Tenent? I thought so. He was using this with regards to George correcting him on occasions about his doomsday prophesies.

14. There was a specific scene...
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 10:27 PM by tlewis
...during the first season (saw it recently on DVD), where Leo says something like "I haven't called you Jed since the inauguration."

They do have a number of former WH aides as consultants for the show, so maybe it's protocol.

12. I believe that is against protocol!!
Does anyone know for sure? I think even first ladies usually refer to their husbands as "the president" (of course, this may be a Freudeian slip on DICK'S part! He's finally admitting that Duhhhbya didn't win the election!)

13. Well, Cheney knows he* only won a lawsuit not an election
so he calls him George, the guy who won a lawsuit.

15. Plus, CHEENEE Breathes Through the Mouth
Not being frivolous here, but he had his speech today (while the bomb was going off) and at every pause, he would take this WOOOOOFFFF breath. Medical peeps will tell'ya it's out-of-breath HEART thing going on. I just wonder, somebody with $36 mil per year, what MORE does anybody want, can DO with it, WHY NOT BE GOOD? (Instead of EVIL)

18. Why do they let Chenney show his face on TV?
The man is about one cut above Tom DeLay. At least Bush looks friendly to those who don't know the truth about him. Chenney just looks like an ass no-matter what.
