2. Short term gain, long term loss |
|
Bush gets a momentary bump, largely because Kerry is taking a little time off.
But the week's events weaken Bush in the long run. Economic news was bad, the stock market has been moving downwards, Iraq looks more like a quagmire than ever, and his war on terror even more ineffectual.

On ABC tonight there was a really good story about progress in Iraq. This news might help Bush. In the story they talked to people in Iraq who were happy that they could vote in election. There was one guy who was training for the Olympics. When Saddam was in power he could not do this. Even though many people may have opposed the war they may now begin to feel that the war has done some good. Since Kerry voted for the war people may be inclined to vote for Bush. So Bushes gains may be long term if the Democrats do not begin to attack him in other areas. Also, there was a report that jobs were on the way. I know that has been said before, but it is possible that it could help Bush. I really hope Bush does not get reelected, but the Democrats must do more.

7. I don't know how Iraq will play out |

IMO, Kerry's vote for the war is an asset rather than a liability. As for the economy, we've been waiting for jobs for months. Has anything really changed on that front?

10. "Progress in Iraq"??? With more than 560 official military deaths... |
|
...I wouldn't exactly call anything that happens in Iraq "progress". Do you think their survivors feel good about their senseless sacrifice in a war based on a pack of lies?
And by the way, tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis died during this most recent U. S. invasion...do you think their survivors think the war did "some good"?
And yes, jobs are on the way...in Mexico, India, Canada and anywhere else the major corporations can find dirt-cheap technical and manufacturing labor.

4. Democrats Need to Fight More |
|
The Democrats should be talking about how Bush has flipped flopped on every issue in Washington in 4yrs. Also, they need to make a big deal about how Bush campainged in 2000 with a now indicted terrorist. They also need to spell out that many of the defense systems that Kerry is said to have voted against were systems that many Republicans did not want, including the first President Bush and then Defense Secretary Dick Cheney. To sum everything up I think the Democrats are not doing enough. They are not really fighting back. They are letting Bush and the Republicans get away with too much. Kerry may be holding his own, but the Democratic Party does not seem to be holding its own.

For the last 3.5 years, the Dems in congress, for example, have given the GOP EVERYTHING they wanted.
Don't believe me? Take a look at the congressional voting record.

11. I used to box and train fighters. |

You don't have to win every minute of every round. Fact is, you don't have to win every round. It is unlikely that Kerry will overwhelm bush on every point on every issue. Example: ain't it great that Saddam is out of power? Sure, but let's examine the way it happened, the price we are paying, and the long-term consequences. Kerry is doing a great job of setting the pace. The republicans believed the democratic primary would wound the "winner." Didn't happen. We have a united front. People like Harold Ford are out there making progress for us. If anyone thinks bush made significant progress this week, I'd say he took some pretty hard shots. This fight is going our way. We're right where we need to be.

The Bunk* campaign only won the "most lies and distortions spewed" contest. All the real news saw Bunk* losing his ass.
