Mistakes...I think it is safe to say that we have all made them. We all--no matter how strong and tall we stand--fall. Gravity. It affects us all.
For some who were on the right, we make Saints--David Brock springs to mind. Yet when someone like Howard Stern "sees the light", there is a large group of posters who aren't willing to forgive his past.
This puzzles me........
Aren't we trying to convince people who voted for Bush not to vote for him again? Shouldn't we embrace anyone who decides that Bush is the wrong choice?
Instead all I see instead is the posts of those who are "The Unforgiving".
There is no redeeming in their camp. Idols include politicians who never changed their minds or positions in office...in other words, an empty room.
We must be more forgiving to those who were once in "the other camp".
That's the only way we'll have the numbers to change.
Forgive...you don't have to forget, just forgive.

Christ, we need people like him...if only to help cancel out Rush Limbaugh and Hannity.

7. Thank you. Glad to be here. |

This looks like the perfect spot for R&R between bouts of flogging GOPers on non-partisan/open forums.

We are awfully rude to each other. Maybe that's where the working class roughness raises it's head now and then. I do like to think that most of us make an attempt to think clearly and that gets us together in the end.

9. so your going to forgive Tom Delay if he switches his tune for |
|
a couple of days. Not me I will never forgive Hitler OBL or the shrub. For me to forgive the person would have to have contrition. Stern is just mad at the shrub now he hasn't changed his beliefs he is just striking out in anger. You need to understand the difference between someone who is with you and someone who is using you. If he hurts the shrub fine but he has to change a hell of allot more than that to get forgiveness or even tolerance. This piece of crap has been railing against Dem's for years and he has not gotten religion.

10. That remains to be seen. One thing is for sure...Michael Powell made a |

PERMANENT convert out of Stern. Politics make strange bedfellows, and even George Wallace repented before he died.
Give the man a chance.

14. A couple of days? No. |
|
Of course not.
But, to dismiss someone who might have "seen the light" is anti-liberal to me. We're supposed to be the ones who understand human nature to be flawed.
Time will tell....

11. Anyone who is helping the Dems working against Bush* is my ally |
|
The stakes are that high. There is nothing more important than throwing the corrupt and incompetent Bush* administration out on their asses. The future prosperity of our country is on the line.
We can worry about "purity" after we've finished the most important task at hand.

I can't tell you how I was derided some years ago by my feminist friends in LA for donating money to Dennis Kucinich's campaign in Ohio. They thought he was too conservative because he was prolife and had some other conservative votes on his record.
I said I trusted DK in his heart was a liberal and he could be counted on to do the right thing. I also said that he would be a congressman who truly loved working for the people he served. Only Clevelanders understood back then.
Funny....sometimes you just KNOW that your trust will be repaid. Dennis paid off in spades.
I completely understand what you're saying about Stern.
