Spain's "9/11" (3/11) is NOT exactly 911 days from 9/11/2001 |
|
One of the disinformation spins is that Spain's 9/11 (3/11/2004) is exactly 911 days since 9/11/2001.
Now, unless I got the date wrong on the Spain bombing:
You do not count 9/11/2001. That's day zero, right?
911 days from 9/11/2001 is 3/10/2004. If you count 9/11/2001 in the number of days, then it is 3/9/2004.
Look at it this way:
9/11/2001-3/11/2004, starting with the number of days left in Sept 2001.
Sep 2001 - 19 Oct 2001 - 31 Nov 2001 - 30 Dec 2001 - 31 Jan 2002 - 31 Feb 2002 - 28 Mar 2002 - 31 Apr 2002 - 30 May 2002 - 31 Jun 2002 - 30 Jul 2002 - 31 Aug 2002 - 31 Sep 2002 - 30 Oct 2002 - 31 Nov 2002 - 30 Dec 2002 - 31 Jan 2003 - 31 Feb 2003 - 28 Mar 2003 - 31 Apr 2003 - 30 May 2003 - 31 Jun 2003 - 30 Jul 2003 - 31 Aug 2003 - 31 Sep 2003 - 30 Oct 2003 - 31 Nov 2003 - 30 Dec 2003 - 31 Jan 2003 - 31 Feb 2003 - 29 Mar 2003 - 11 (day of Spain bombing).
Am I right? Seems like another fine example of "fuzzy math" and the Repukes' prime example of public schooling (they couldn't pass the 9th grade proficiency test, therefore the school is to blame?).

4. So, by that logic, 365 days from 1/1/2002 |
|
is 1/2/2003?
I don't think so. Their logic was "The 911th day from 9/11/2001 is 3/11/2004!".

2. Thank you! I thought no one had noticed |

I was with my parents Sunday afternoon, and they flipped to FOX News to see the results of the Spanish election and in their coverage, Fox reported the 911 days thing.
At which point I went on a tirade to my mother asking how she could get news from a source that can't even bother to break out a calculator and check such a simple thing before reporting it as fact. Then I went home, because I couldn't watch Fox News anymore.
Its one thing for something like this to float around as an internet rumor, but to be reported as fact. grrrrr. :grr:

Put 9/11/2001 in A1 Put 3/11/2004 in A2 Put =A2-A1 in Cell A3, Format as "0" integer
Excel reports 912 Days. It comes down to semantics I suppose.
If you do all the combination of "9" "11" "911" you probably can make hay of alot of terrorist related events.

5. I did the math a different way, but it IS 912. |
|
My guess is, if it was planned, someone forgot about Leap Year this year. Without which it would be 911.
