Find the lies in Condi's rebuttal to 60 minutes (WP op-ed 3/22)
Condi has an op-ed rebuttal to assertions that the administration ignored bin Laden pre 9-11. I see one lie already. Help debunk this piece of propaganda.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A13881-2004Mar21.html

Here's just part -- and it's not the part where I saw a lie:

Through the summer increasing intelligence "chatter" focused almost exclusively on potential attacks overseas. Nonetheless, we asked for any indication of domestic threats and directed our counterterrorism team to coordinate with domestic agencies to adopt protective measures. The FBI and the Federal Aviation Administration alerted airlines, airports and local authorities, warning of potential attacks on Americans.

Despite what some have suggested, we received no intelligence that terrorists were preparing to attack the homeland using airplanes as missiles, though some analysts speculated that terrorists might hijack airplanes to try to free U.S.-held terrorists. The FAA even issued a warning to airlines and aviation security personnel that "the potential for a terrorist operation, such as an airline hijacking to free terrorists incarcerated in the United States, remains a concern."

We now know that the real threat had been in the United States since at least 1999. The plot to attack New York and Washington had been hatching for nearly two years. According to the FBI, by June 2001 16 of the 19 hijackers were already here. Even if we had known exactly where Osama bin Laden was, and the armed Predator had been available to strike him, the Sept. 11 hijackers almost certainly would have carried out their plan. So, too, if the Northern Alliance had somehow managed to topple the Taliban, the Sept. 11 hijackers were here in America -- not in Afghanistan.

President Bush has acted swiftly to unify and streamline our efforts to secure the American homeland. He has transformed the FBI into an agency dedicated to catching terrorists and preventing future attacks. The president and Congress, through the USA Patriot Act, have broken down the legal and bureaucratic walls that prior to Sept. 11 hampered intelligence and law enforcement agencies from collecting and sharing vital threat information. Those who now argue for rolling back the Patriot Act's changes invite us to forget the important lesson we learned on Sept. 11.

In the immediate aftermath of the attacks, the president, like all Americans, wanted to know who was responsible. It would have been irresponsible not to ask a question about all possible links, including to Iraq -- a nation that had supported terrorism and had tried to kill a former president. Once advised that there was no evidence that Iraq was responsible for Sept. 11, the president told his National Security Council on Sept. 17 that Iraq was not on the agenda and that the initial U.S. response to Sept. 11 would be to target al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan

3. I don't think she
reads her emails. Remember the flap last summer about a memo having to do with a Mr. Joe Wilson? The Deputy, Mr. Hadley, disputed that she had ever read the memo.

So I think it's safe to say she won't read it.

8. It's only called the homeland...
...because it's as close as they could get to "fatherland" without making it TOO obvious. After all, if it were that obvious, the loyal opposition might get lazy :>

Due to the size of the government, and the volume of mail most public figures get, almost no public figures read their own mail, but (if Rice's office is like a Senator's) there will be a few people who's job it is to read over them to get a gist of them, and send a few letters a week to her to read personally. So while she probably won't read it, but rest assured someone will.

And honestly, does anyone here expect 2 words to come out of any of the regime's mouths that AREN'T a lie?

Rice: "We committed more funding to counterterrorism and intelligence efforts."

But what about this, Ms. Rice? From WaPo dated 3/21:

"In the early days after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the Bush White House cut by nearly two-thirds an emergency request for counterterrorism funds by the FBI, an internal administration budget document shows."

it's all one big lie...

"We now know that the real threat had been in the United States since at least 1999. The plot to attack New York and Washington had been hatching for nearly two years. According to the FBI, by June 2001 16 of the 19 hijackers were already here. So they knew for two years before 9/11 that there was a plot to attack New York and Washington...and the FBI by June of 2001 knew that 16 of the 19 known al Qaeda members were here in the US. So if they knew that these guys were here...and that they knew for two years that a plot was in motion to attack New York and Washington...why didn't they do anything...?

She says that they recieved no intelligence that terrorists were preparing to attack the homeland using airplanes...but yet most if not all of the hi-jackers were enrolled in flight schools learning to fly jumbo jets...according to the Pheonix memo...

If they didn't recieve a plan but yet they knew of a plot...then why didn't she have a plan put togther...after all...she is the national security adviser is she not...so I'm guessing that she is incompitent and should not be in the position that she is in...

If you ask me she has just implicated herself and the rest of the administration...that they knew of an attack was going to be carried out on this country...Namely New York and Washington...and they knew that 16 of the 19 hijackers were in this country with ties to al Qaeda and they did nothing...that's my take on it...

Is this the lie...?

Condi says: "We received no intelligence that terrorists were preparing to attack the homeland using airplanes as missiles."

What about the Aug 6 PDB (President's Daily Brief), entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S."?

"The super-secret PDB has emerged in the public eye with the disclosure that President Bush was informed by the Aug. 6 version that terrorists associated with Osama bin Laden might try to hijack an airplane."

- Walter Pincus, WaPo
Friday, May 24, 2002; Page A33

http://groups.google.com/groups?q=Aug+6+PDB&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&edition=us&selm=acn9pr%242fk%241%40slb7.atl.mindspring.net&rnum=2

"One PDB was given at the presidential ranch in Crawford, Texas, on Aug. 6, and dealt with the possibility that Al Qaeda might hijack airplanes."

- Michael Isikoff
Newsweek, 26 May 2003

http://groups.google.com/groups?q=Aug+6+PDB&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&edition=us&selm=bb05s0%242pbj%241%40pencil.math.missouri.edu&rnum=6

"The Aug. 6, 2001 PDB given to Bush while on vacation at his ranch in Crawford {focused} on the prospect of an upcoming Al Qaeda attack and the prospect that terrorists might seek to hijack commercial airliners — a warning that critics have long charged should have triggered a more vigorous response from the White House. The title of the PDB ... was more prophetic than the White House has ever acknowledged: Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S."

26. As an addendum...
On May 15, 2002, CBS News reported that President Bush had been warned about possible al Qaeda hijackings on August 6, 2001. The Washington Post reported the story on May 16. “President Bush and his top advisers were informed by the CIA early last August that terrorists associated with Osama bin Laden had discussed the possibility of hijacking airplanes,” the paper reported. “White House spokesman Ari Fleischer confirmed that Bush had been told about the possibility of hijackings but he declined to say what had been revealed during his intelligence briefings.” On May 16, Rice held a press briefing; she insisted that no one could have envisioned the events of September 11. “I don’t think anybody could have predicted that these people…would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile,” Rice said.

Rice’s remark was surpassingly odd. No one could have predicted use of a hijacked plane as a missile? In fact, ever since September 11, news reports had mentioned earlier warnings about that very sort of activity. On May 18, 2002, the Post’s Bob Woodward and Dan Eggen challenged Rice’s statement. After quoting Rice’s remark, they outlined some previous warnings:

WOODWARD AND EGGEN: But a 1999 report prepared for the National Intelligence Council, an affiliate of the CIA, warned that terrorists associated with bin Laden might hijack an airplane and crash it into the Pentagon, White House or CIA headquarters.
The report recounts well-known case studies of similar plots, including a 1995 plan by al Qaeda operatives to hijack and crash a dozen U.S. airliners in the South Pacific and pilot a light aircraft into Langley.

There is no need to debunk. I can tell she is lying when her mouth is open or her pen is to paper! Anyone who has seen the clip of her saying "There was no way anyone could have imagined they would fly planes into buildings" quote, while she blinked and nodded her stupid head can tell she is a liar.

I mean, really, it is the body language of a six year old saying "I did not eat the cookies" when they have crumbs on their face.

"The FBI and the Federal Aviation Administration alerted airlines, airports and local authorities, warning of potential attacks on Americans.

<snip>

The FAA even issued a warning to airlines and aviation security personnel that "the potential for a terrorist operation, such as an airline hijacking to free terrorists incarcerated in the United States, remains a concern."

How can I prove this is a lie? Well, on August 25th, 2001 for the first time in my life, I boarded a plane at LaGuardia Airport without a ticket or a boarding pass.

Yes, I had a ticket but because the crew was more concerned with turning the plane around quickly and the flight was only about 1/3 full they just let everyone get on the plane without checking tickets or ID. When I got to the gate and tried to force the woman there to look at my ticket she brushed me off and said just hurry up and get on the plane. So much for even a normal level of security, no less an increased level of security.
