Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney Mocks Kerry Face... |
|
These Republicans are such morons. They are not funny. They are childish and mean. Check out Romney, the retard. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040321/480/bx10103212130

I always wonder if the roles were reversed, if they would think its funny. Making fun of someone, for whatever reason is not laughable.

We call Bush, "Chimp," because he, er, looks like a chimp.
However, I have been looking at pictures of Kerry and I do think he looks far more presidential than the, er, Chimp.

11. Yes, we call Bush a chimp and everything else but |
|
we're not governors and tv pundits.

2. Republicans are disgusting |
|
It is always the superficial..."We like Bush because he looks like a down-home boy." So what...he put on a plaid shirt; he's still a filthy rich New England frat-boy. So what, though, right? He LOOKS like a good ol' boy.
Likewise, it is perfectly fine to mock the opponent's looks. Just like the republicans like to mock the homeless, the infirm, and the otherwise downtrodden. Par for the course.

for an elected official to do it, but it's not beyond the norm for it to be done by rank and file members of a party, is it?

5. So, where's the fight fire with fire response? |
|
They couldn't really act outraged if someone did the exact same thing with pictures of Bush and a chimp, say, or Alfred E. Neumann, could they? "All in good fun, you know, as I'm sure Gov. Romney's intention was when he did it first."

6. I cannot usually defend Romney |
|
but this entire event was just a political roast and Romney was getting in on the fun. The host told Romney at the beginning that there are two rules for this event, don't make fun of the Irish, and two make fun of Romney and his Lt Gov all you want.

8. Romney's comments were self-effacing: |
|
""I'm very suspicious of someone like John Kerry," Romney said. "I'm leery of anyone who parlays a privileged background, personal wealth, and a great head of hair for political success.""
I still can't stand the bastard though...

These St Patrick's Day roasts are a 'tradition' here in Boston. And the jokes tend to be 'safe'- either ridiculously hackneyed or sufficiently over the top and off the mark that no one really feels hurt by it. (If you know anything about Boston Irish politician infighting- the way individual grudges begin in small things and stretch over generations and to distant relatives, feuds among political 'clans' refuse to end or die, and the one person you're always allowed to gripe about is the local king- it's a matter of survival.)
So Romney's thing is so over the top that no one's really offended. It's the stuff he says in front of TV cameras in his office that offend, but that's a different topic....

15. This makes them look terrible. I hope they'll keep it up |
|
It's childish and meanspirited and what Christians like to call un-Christian. (Isn't Rommeny a Mormon? Somewhere in heaven all his dead ancestors are spinning.) It's the type of behavior parents, schoolteachers, scoutleaders, etc. try to prevent in their children. In otherwords, I hope Kerry's jaw becomes a major focus of the campaign.
