I get a real sense that there are many republican voters who are caught on the horns of a dilemma. They don't want to vote for Bush but can't bring themselves to vote for Kerry. The plus for us is they may avoid the polls but grassroots republicans have a strong record of always voting. Is it possible for a dark horse candidate to ride into the convention and succeed in taking the nomination from Bush? And who is the likely Libertarian candidate? A lot of fiscal conservatives are really libertarian lite. Alternatives to Bush that are not Kerry could be a real plus to Kerry and send the Bush cartel packing once again, ala Ross Perot.

they are all reasonably smart repubs and some still defend bush but it is pretty forced, it sounds more like religious apologists than anything else. All damage control like well it could be worse, or "yes anyone with a freshman econ class under their belt understands the tax cuts are a bad idea but Im sure he will start on something else with it like not spending so much -soon, i think, i hope"
they are desperate for something to crow about so they can feel good about the fact that they will all bite the bullet and vote for bush in nov
