Semi-serious: Bush ends Health Costs via Do it yourself Heart Attack rules
Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 05:04 PM by papau
I am told that that this is really a set of valid suggestions, and that the email sender believes Bush's ultimate goal of self responsibility in citizens will use this to cut down health care costs - cancer suggestions will be out next week(?)

Given the destruction Bush plans for Medicare (as in private accounts where you save for your own end of life costs - which be a bit quicker to come if you have less money), this may be the beginning of our future re health care:

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE

Since many people are expected to be alone when they suffer a heart attack, and since without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness, it is important to learn that you can help yourself by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously.

A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged,as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm.

In this way, taking deep breath before each cough, heart attack victims can drive to a funeral home if they lack insurance.

self care as the alternate to the concept of health care workers?

If it was not plausible the email would die!

But I agree - it is to be considered only "semi-serious" - an "urban legend" if you like
