"Bush wants cheap high-speed Internet access for all by 2007"
http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/internet/03/26/bush.broadband.dc.reut/index.html

When I saw this one I had to check the date...it's not going to be April Fools Day for a few days...looks like this one's real.

"President Bush on Friday urged that affordable high-speed Internet access known as broadband be available to all Americans by 2007."

Is he going to deliver this while fighting the war against steroids in sports and delivering the pride of home ownership to minorities?

Are we still going to Mars?

And is he still going to provide marriage counseling?

Is he still a uniter and not a divider or has he morphed into some new, uncategorized category of wonderfulness?

:wtf:

1. How is he expecting to pay for this now?
Is this a joke?

Man, Bush walks a crooked line. I don't even think he knows what's going on anymore...

I hate to sound like a Republican on this one but I think the free market will bring this about. I'm a Verizon employee and we're going full speed ahead on offering high speed internet access. We have to. Because of cell phones and deregulation there is not enough maney in POTS (plain old telephone service). Because cable TV companies are offering High Speed intenet access we are forced to do likewise.

It would be SOP for chimpy boy to claim credit for something he had absolutely nothing to do with.

14. No, but there was discussion about Carlyle Group buying Viacom.
Now wouldn't that be something?

11. Much more important than health-care" - yup, I noticed that -
.
.
.

Did he even mention Health-care ?

Like health-care is a need, broadband is not.

Sure broadband is a great idea for those in business, especially if they use it for marketing, etc.

BUT

not much good if your laying around sick because you can't afford health-care now is it?

Health-care IS a very expensive "benefit"

and shame on us Canadians for insisting that our Health be put ahead of funds for a WarMachine . .

10. hmm..where have i heard of this before....?
Standing tough under stars and stripes
We can tell
This dream's in sight
You've got to admit it
At this point in time that it's clear
The future looks bright
On that train all graphite and glitter
Undersea by rail
Ninety minutes from New York to Paris
Well by seventy-six we'll be A.O.K.

What a beautiful world this will be
What a glorious time to be free

Get your ticket to that wheel in space
While there's time
The fix is in
You'll be a witness to that game of chance in the sky
You know we've got to win
Here at home we'll play in the city
Powered by the sun
Perfect weather for a streamlined world
There'll be spandex jackets one for everyone

What a beautiful world this will be
What a glorious time to be free

On that train all graphite and glitter
Undersea by rail
Ninety minutes from New York to Paris
(More leisure for artists everywhere)
A just machine to make big decisions
Programmed by fellows with compassion and vision
We'll be clean when their work is done
We'll be eternally free yes and eternally young

What a beautiful world this will be
What a glorious time to be free
IGY

desperate political/convention adspeak, is all.

12. He also alerted us today that he's for jobs
Shrub was out with his script that jobs aren't the *only* economic indicator... When the guy from the carpenter's union said jobs were the most important one to people like him, Bush interrupted to say jobs were the most important to him, too.

It was like a scene from "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion." "Omigod, you're for jobs? That's so funny, cause I'm for jobs too!! Omigod! Uh!!"

(He's also for job training, but only if you're newly released from prison.)

15. This is a bigger tax break than I got with his tax cuts
I might have gotten 150 bucks off. I pay 480 bucks a year for highspeed. What the fuck does he think is 'affordable?'

Btw, he stole this from us and I have no clue what we think is affordable either. ;)
