The Next Bridge to Cross for Bush |
|
And it's a long bridge. It will probably put the Clarke story on the back pages because it concerns the re-election of 228 Repubs in the House of Representatives. They are all up for re-election in November. They must go home and campaign and explain to their elderly voters why they voted for the Bush Medicare "fraud". Those voters are not happy. This presents a unique challenge for the fraudulent Republican Party.
So, in the interim, the Democrats will be calling for a special investigation into the Bush White House in regards to whether or not they intentionally misled Congress. This is the environment in which they will be running for re-election.
Will they agree to an investigation? Doubtful. But they will try to have it both ways. They will say here are questions that need to be answered and they are working hard to see that they get those answers but few will come out and directly challenge the Bush White House. They know which side their bread is buttered.

they don't really have a platform for this sort of attack.
I think the ethics/bribery thing is more promising, since they just have to tip one publicity hungry prosecutor. And they're all some of the biggest media whores around.

2. But they are mostly concerned about saving their own butts. |

And the Medicare fraud grows more unpopular each and every day. This is a threat to each Republican personally.
