They show just what kind lying, hypocrites we're dealing with. I'm going to email these links to everyone I know.

18. Lying, conniving, mendacious, duplicitous, reichous, sanctimonious
hypocrites I would add for emphasis. Nothing is sacred to them and absolutely nothing matters to them except their ideology and implementation of their full far-right agenda.

3. I hope 60 minutes is armed with all this
when Condi tries the spin that they were taking terrorism more seriously than the Clinton administration.

5. Today on CNN
Clarke also said that the media didn't cover Clinton's many speeches on terrorism.

Sort of back handed swipe at the non-stop, wall-to-wall, All Monica All Day focus?

7. Clinton never gets credit
For most of us here at DU, there is nothing particularly surprising about most of what Clarke says concerning the Bush* administration. The surprise is that it's actually being released to the public. But Clarke's comments about the Clinton administration are gold, particularly Clinton's actions to prevent the millennium bombing. The "liberal" (try conservative) media doesn't know what to do with this information--it doesn't fit their preconceived notion that Clinton, as a Democrat, must be weak on defense and national security.

13. The CNN 9604
article seems to be about one of the issues that was included or expanded in the patriot act 5 years later.
Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Sen. Schumer had some press in the last year apposing these "roving" wiretaps?

17. That got my attention as well...
(snip)
The Republicans also dropped the additional wire-tap authority the Clinton administration wanted. U.S. Attorney general Janet Reno had asked for "multi-point" tapping of suspected terrorists, who may be using advanced technology to outpace authorities.

Rep. Charles Schumer, D-New York, said technology is giving criminals an advantage.

"What the terrorists do is they take one cellular phone, use the number for a few days, throw it out and use a different phone with a different number," he said. "All we are saying is tap the person, not the phone number."
____________________________________________

Isn't that one of the more controversial provisions of the PATRIOT act? And it was a Dem invention?! Pretty disgusting. Well, at least Schumer showed consistency by supporting the act - which is more that we can say about the Republicans, who opposed the act under Clinton and they now take credit for it. Even when the Republicans did the right thing by opposing it, they did it for the wrong reasons.

Researching the news sources was on my task list this week, so I really do appreciate you posting these links, which I'm going to use in the many letters I'm sending out.

This thread is bookmarked. I've also saved the web pages to my hard drive, and did a screen shot of CNNs sites just in case they end up disappearing.

Thanks again. :)

Edit: spelling
