*'s delusion?
What exactly would make him think, for instance, that the WMD joke was funny?

I believe that he is suffering from the delusion that he is a character on _Saturday Night Live_ . After all, his dad was.

1. He's got an aristocrat's view of the world, I think.
That's what happens when you skate to the top on your family's name.

Nothing ever touches him personally. Those are just serfs dying over there in Iraq and Afghanistan.

3. It wasn't a delusion, nor was it an illusion. bush* suffers from some kind
of mental/personality defect that makes him totally blind to anyone's interests but his own. He is a sociopath. He has absolutely no qualms about sending people to their deaths if, in the end, he sees some benefit for himself. The original plan may not be his, but he is so intellectually limited that he can't see that. He is just a frontman for a bunch of thugs that fawn and flatter him, all the time letting him believe that they care what he thinks, or for that matter that he's really POTUS.

The 'Where's the WMD's' thing was an example of the fool thinking for himself. And the result was exposure of what a total moral bankrupt the man is.

I can just see Poppy banging his head against the wall. He's probably having fits at junior's little rebellion. I don't believe for a minute that he intended to get revenge for Saddam's attempted assasination of his father. I think that he thought that he could show daddy that he was a bigger, badder leader and pResident. Look at the way he's gutted an organization that Poppy devoted years to, one he oversaw. His little boy has turned the CIA into a laughing stock, and that has got to piss Poppy off. And junior has brought intense scrutiny on the BFEE. The secrets that they kept buried for so many generations have now seen the light of day (the Nazi connection, the 30-year relationship with the Saudi ruling family), etc.

I also have to laugh that no matter who Poppy sends in to try to clean up the mess, it just doesn't go away. They brought in James Baker to try to deal with the Russians to no avail. I often wonder what contact Baker has had with the Shi'ites and Sunnis in Iraq, and if he's trying to pacify them. Because if he is, it ain't working.

4. Yeah, pathological narcissism. There's something missing there.
It's not just that he's callous or makes jokes in bad taste: He really doesn't Get It, on a fundamental level. I'm not even sure he understands that there's anything to get.

6. He's a complete sociopath.
He has absolutely no feeling or concern for anthing that lies beyond the reach of his stomach and the tip of his dick. All the rest lies outside his bubble, thus it matters not. The boy is the center of his universe. Nothing else is important.

8. i agree but
i agree but there is no way in hell * wrote the jokes and planned the slide show. he probably had very little input (like he has no input on speeches).

some white house staffers wrote those jokes and put the presentation together. then i assume * rehearsed it.

that whole admin is full of sick f*ks.

5. Remember * discussing the loss of American soldiers in Iraq on MTP?
Russert asked * what he would tell the families of dead American soldiers, now that we knew there weren't any WMDs in Iraq. * paused, stuttered a few lines and then tried to put on his "compassionate" face. It was so fake that it was scary, because it confirmed that * doesn't give a rat's ass about those who die in Iraq. It's all about *, his daddy, and protecting the Bush* family name.

7. The joke was telling on many levels
I teach joke writing, and the first thing to understand about a joke is the TARGET.

Who was the target of Bush's joke? We can only conclude that it is all the people who believed him when he tried to scare the shit out of them talkin' bout mushroom clouds and stuff.

They are the butt of his joke, the American sheeple. He misleads them and then laughs in their faces.

It's a total insult.

9. I think his delusion is
that he's the most awesome kick-ass president ever, and everyone loves him and he can never get in trouble for anything.
