The Good, the Bad and the Ugly...
The good news is that I have just ordered an audio CD of "Against All Enemies" and once I have listened to it all, I am wide open to send it to anyone who is interested (pay postage, of course). Just PM me.

The bad news is that I have MS. Yeah, I have been "flirting" w/ it for about a year, so I am not surprised. Just really hard dealing w/ the daily unusual symptoms. Some days my eye is so blurry I cannot even post. I never know what I am waking up to. I have always been an avid reader, but now I cannot focus on a book; thus the Audio Book. An article I can handle. I also loved to do crossword puzzles, even the NYT (don't be jealous) because it took me 6 months of working on a daily puzzle to the day Wed. (didn't know it got more difficult as the week wears on). Anyhow, a lot to grieve about, but hanging in.

The ugly news is that my legs (which I have always been proud of) are atrophying (sp?)...yeah, the old "ostrich legs."

Just checking in and please, to anyone who is disabled, or just wants to hear the audio book, PM me. We can pass it on from person to person. DUers are GREAT and I love you guys!

2. For a while there, I thought I had MS myself
But turns out I have something commonly known as Benign Fasiculation Syndrome. No atrophy or noticeable weakness, but, boy, do I have a lot of twitches. One night I walked several miles and afterwards the sole of my foot twitched like a bed of worms.

And the zingers, I still get those ocassionally.....

3. I'm so sorry to hear of your problems
you must be scared to death. You'll hear lots of these stories but sometimes the course of the illness is very slow. One of my dearest friends was diagnosed in 1979. I read everything I could find. She moved home (that was the good news!) which is a cooler climate and today she is just fine. She has some numbness and problems with her eyes but she still works (as a judge) and you'd never know it to look at her. Here's hoping you have such luck.

You might see if you are eligible for the Books on Tape program for the blind. Another friend of mine uses it and says you can get any book you want, free, they send it to you for as long as you want (or long enough, not sure) and postage is free both ways.

I listen to books on tape all the time. One or two a week. I love it.

4. Your state library system should run a Books-on-Tape program.
As described above.

Caledesi - you keep hanging in. If you ever need a little boost, you can always ask here and it'll be forthcoming.

And you live so close to me. I had a friend who has MS. Not a very good disease and it's kinda like mine(diabetes). Some days are just bad days. Still have my sight thank goodness it's just my kidneys.

Hope you feel better soon and hang in there.

Check your inbox. :)

Edit: It sucks sometimes cause you can't eat all you want. My friend would sometimes get tired for what seemed like no reason at all. I'm sure you have days like that too.
