Dailykos Readers Discuss Woodward's Book
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/3/30/20374/1227

One poster said:

"Apparently Woodward has a good friend or relative who is teaching or studying at Yale SOM.

A signed copy of his book is being auctioned as part of Yale SOM's Internship Fund auction. The description of the book posted is as follows:

"PLAN OF ATTACK is the definitive account of how and why President Bush, his war council and allies went to war in Iraq. Bob Woodward, America's foremost investigative journalist, interviewed 75 key participants to deliver an original and astonishingly intimate portrait of the nation's leaders at the brink of war in a narrative as taut and gripping as any thriller. PLAN OF ATTACK is sure to be the most talked about book of the year."

If this is an honest book, it will no doubt be a big blow to the Bush campaign."

My gut feeling is that this book is going to be pro-Bush--what if the Republicans are pulling reverse pyschology by pretending to be "afraid" of Woodward's book in order to drive up public interest and sales, and it turns out to be a pro-Bush book? I need real info here, from anyone high up in the Democratic circle or publishing circle to let me know the real intent of Woodward's book.

2. Woodward is a Bush sycophant.
I'm not feeling the Bush threat from his book.

UNLESS, he's really allied with the fiscal conservatives and they've signalled their lack of support for Georgie.

Don't give me hope.

3. I heard about his other book about Bush so I'm discounting this book
as "being explosive" because I'm very suspicious as to how Republicans are pushing this---Republicans would never admit to being afraid or worried about something.

5. NY Daily News has this snippet - Woodward will do 60 Minutes
Scroll down article

The briefing

Fit of conniption: I hear that "Plan of Attack," supersleuth Bob Woodward's still-secret study of President Bush's war on terrorism, will be very bad for the Bush reelection campaign - which is still reeling from gun-toting former terrorism chief Richard A. Clarke's critique of Bush, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice and other administration figures in "Against All Enemies."

Woodward's book, to be released next month, will receive not only a multipart series in The Washington Post, but also the Mike Wallace treatment on "60 Minutes" April 18 - when I am absolutely confident that the common corporate ownership of CBS and Woodward's publisher, Simon & Schuster, will be mentioned.

7. Viacom is niche marketing here?
They own CBS and Clarkes publisher too.

So, maybe they see a niche market in Bushbashing?
