1. They are already saying Bush is off the hook

Supposedly Condi will straighten everything out, and it will be clear sailing for the SS Bush.

4. Not completely off the hook...

Yes, they started out with "everyone's to blame so no one's to blame" but THEN they proceeded to completely demolish * on his obsession with Iraq. (Which was, after all, part of the reason Clarke gives for the terrorism failures.)

As a whole, this edition of Nightline was amazingly hard on *. Quite heartening, really. Begala did a great job vs Blankley. The program ended with a list of all the lies that severely damage *'s cred.

I DO wish Nightline did a rebroadcast or a transcript online.

2. If they're asking the question

...the answer is predetermined. Since THEY are the ones who determine whether it's defused or not, the question itself is the answer: translates as "Now WE"RE off the hook and don't have to pursue this anymore."

But gee they do have nice hair stylists working for them, don't they. You can always admire their hair, whatever you think of their journalism.

5. I appreciate your listings and have saved them to my hard drive

from another thread. Thank you. I have contacted the panel twice with my opinions

But, I can't think of it as our fault that Bush seems to be getting off the hook.

His machine is powerful, rich, and above all, exceptionally intimidating toward anyone, Democrat or Republican, who bucks the script. He has controlled this panel from the beginning. It was a set up, scripted to look bi partisan and fair. That they allowed the conditions Bush set forth, as if he were in charge, in order to have Condi grace the panel with her presence, and do us all the favor and allow herself to be put under oath, is a clue. That
Bush has dictated the proceedings to suit and protect himself is another clue.

It is not a professional panel and what comes from it will not help a damn thing for the future, thanks to Bush. He , however, does not care about the country and future terrorist attacks apparently or any recommendations the panel may make. Actually he does not believe in anything coming from congress , the UN or any body that is potentially stronger than he in it's powers.

He wants to be the dictator and looks like he is.

6. It looks that way, but there will be more.

The bush people are so over-the-top arrogant and pig-headed that there are sure to be more and more problems for them: more resignations, more revelations, more bald-faced lies.

Eventually, it will catch up with them. I think Clarke demolishes bush's credibility as a national security president, but the average voter hasn't paid enough attention in the past week. Clarke needs to be kept in the news another couple of weeks for it to stick.
