1. Listen live seems to be busted
Edited on Wed Mar-31-04 10:23 AM by apnu
<error>

Error Occurred While Processing Request
Operation failed on the data source named "isfprd".
Reason of failure "Error establishing socket. No buffer space available (maximum connections reached?): JVM_Bind"

</error>

Seems the server has reached max connections w/ all the attention. Sad since I don't have a radio @ work to listen with.

(on edit)
I know that it's not noon yet when I tried this, but I wanted to see what the site would do when I tried to start listening live.

I'm listening to the Portland station right now. The bizarreness of "listening to the oldies" just prior to Franken coming on is just too weird!

7. Me too
I feel kind of bad for the dj. He seems a little melancholy about the format change. Then again, it's only been an oldies station for nine months.

It used to be KGW, the most popular music station in town (in the 70's). Maybe it will experience a rebirth with liberal talk.

21. This isn't a "oldies" format, it's a "dreadful oldies" format
I know oldies formats. I was working for two seperate decent music stations that changed formats to oldies beneath me. That was drek, but at least they didn't cut every uptempo song out of the rotation as this gawd-awful mess playing right now has done.

No wonder they were shopping this station for a format change. Air America will do much better than this mess is, but, so would bagpipe music.

33. Clear Channel smells anti-trust action in the winds
They know progressives are pissed about the media conglomerates, so they are throwing up a few token progressive offering to pretend to be unbiased.

If Dumbya wins, they will disappear within microseconds of Dumbya being declared winner.

18. XM
XM makes Plug N Play radios that can be moved from Car to Home. You may want to go that route if you don't mind not having a streamlined in dash system.

Be aware XM isn't carying all of Air America. They are cutting out most of Randi Rhodes to broadcast Ed Schultz and cutting some of Garafalo to broadcast Alan Colmes.

I currently have Sirius and don't know a whole lot about XM. But can honestly say most folks I talk to that go to Satellite be it XM or Sirius love it.

Picked up a Delphi Roady for $119 w/ a free home adapter kit at Best Buy . Ten bucks a month and you get incredible music, lots of news (even CNN and MSNBC simulcasts if you have a strong stomach), C- Span radio, and Air America. Worth every penny.

It actually doesn't look bad in the car at all. I put the antenna in the corner of the dash and ran the wire behind the dash, attached the mount under the "not an ashtray" and taped the extra lighter plug wire to the back of the mount. No visible wires at all--just a plug in the lighter,m the 2 inch square antenna, and the radio.

23. Listen to this description of their morning show
It's hilarious! I love it!

6:00-9:00

Time to wake up, brush your teeth and stick it to The Man. Set your alarm to Morning Sedition and keep us on as you make your way to that charmingly decorated cubicle where you help rich people increase the disparity between their bank account and yours. We’ll give you the day’s headlines and political news, without that annoying, smiley, blow-dried double-talk the other media use to avoid offending anyone who might jeopardize their access to Sweet Lady Ad Revenues. Join radio veteran Mark Riley, journalist Sue Ellicott and comedian Marc Maron for morning news served up the way you like it: In context, with a healthy dollop of absurdity on top and a side order of subversion.

Host: Marc Maron
Co-host: Sue Ellicott

25. Can't get any of the online streams to work...
Portland - player doesn't load, just keeps reloading the index page.
WLIB - webpage won't come up. Browser keeps waiting for page.
KBLA - Player loads, no sound.
AirAmerica - Listen live and sign up pages indicate some kind of JavaScript errors.

Oh well. Maybe after the rush to listen is over, I'll be able to hear it.

26. POrtland stream is working -- with oldies
The POrtland station is working for me, although they're just playing oldies at thge moment.

It's the same kind of player that WJNO (Randi Rhodes station in Fla) has. A pain in the butt anbd takes some time to load, but it works eventually
