Goodbye CNN, Goodbye MSNBC, Goodbye CNBC!
Why, why, why should I subject myself to Wolf Blitzer any more? Why should I put up with the likes of Chris Matthews and Peggy Noonan and Paula Zahn and Joe Scarborough and Giggles O'Brien?

So long. I'm spreading the news. Air America is my media choice now.

2. Whores. They are all whores.

I stopped watching long ago, and they can all kiss my ass. Air America is my choice now and I will make it a daily mission to get people to listen and to get people away from the cable news liars.

3. Snarky Anderson Cooper alone is worth giving up CNN.
Let alone everyone else. Add Candy Crowley to your list of annoying CNN people.

Don't mess with Tiger Hall of Famers! Don't connect Anderson Cooper to a class act like Sparky!

5. I've been free for years
Gave them all up shortly after the all-anthrax all-the-time binge.

Except for a rare exception, I don't subject myself to the nonsense from these people. My blood pressure is lower and my head is clearer.

They have nothing to offer except loud blather. Give them up, you'll be happier.

All you need to do is check out FAIR / Counterspine once a week to know what these whores are doing...no need to waste your time watching it.

13. You guys are so right....I don't watch TV nearly as much as I..
used to. I now listen to radio at night. Just got disgusted that a liberal point of view could not be freely articulated without some right-wing-nut shouting while it was going on. Having studied psychology for a long time, I got tired of having every word placed in a right-wing context using right-wing terminology.

14. Why have TV news spoonfed to you when you can READ???
That's my main question.

You spend how much time on DU per day? Why not take some of that time online, and read the articles on the major newspaper sites (NY Times, Wash Post, LA Times, etc.) along with the alternative media (TomPaine.com, Alternet.org, TheNation.com, Progressive.org, CommonDreams.org, etc.).

It never ceases to amaze me how many people on these boards continue to waste their time with TV Cable News, and then endlessly bitch and moan about how much of whores they all are. I mean, they're SUPPOSED to be propagandists, after all!

20. why do you make that assumption?
I spend about ten hours per day reading and monitoring various sites on the net. At the same time, I'm monitoring the cable news networks. Some of us can *multi-task*. Now we just have another option for background noise.

22. Unfortunately, I'm a hopeless news junkie...
and have been since age ten. I suspect many on this board share the same addiction. I do read the papers you mention, and magazines, but I keep the tv on 24-hour news as I go about my business (work at home). I can't resist -- I might miss something! I welcomed CNN when it first came on. I couldn't believe I could be transported live, in real time, to so many important events. I still keep CNN on, but what it has become distresses me. (I don't "bitch and moan" about Fox because I hate it so much, I go ballistic just clicking past the channel.)

What CNN, and NBC News, have become not only distresses me because I'm a news consumer, but because a large majority of Americans get what news they get from tv. It's probably a hopeless cause, but I do call and email news outlets -- print sources, too -- when I see unfair reporting. I don't think our free press are supposed to be propagandists, as they are now. They are propping up the dangerous house of cards that is the Bush cabal, by not telling the truth about it. I feel a need to see that with my own eyes, to understand it, and to react against it, even though one person may make no difference. And, annoyingly, from time to time, I admit I do "bitch and moan." (Just ask my long-suffering family -- )

To Air America, and all who've worked getting it off to a start today, I wish great success!

I only watch when I intentionally want to know what the opposition is saying, or when a massive story is breaking that I really need video for. You kinda had to watch CNN when shock and awe began, unfortunately.

23. stopped watching
CNN when the followed that ford bronco on the 405. Stopped all other cable during the 'trial of the century'. Listening 2 'Air America' now - got Link TV, which rocks! & BBC occasionally. Get all my news from the 'net'. I, dare say, am better informed than anyone watching whorporate network news. I want 2 B informed so I seek it out on the net.

26. I have ALMOST weened myself, but I have to tell ya.....
I was reading the Drudge Report this morning(sorry, slightly addicted, need that daily white house feed) and Matty-boy was cheering the fact that CNN has lost 50% of its audience. NO SHIT! CNN USED to be the source for real news, now it is just opinionated drivel. If that is what I wanted, I would watch FAUX. News is no longer news, it is just one fucking infomercial after another. Bush's commercials against Kerry get run over and over disguised as news stories by the impartial likes of Blitzer, Crowley, Schneider, Woodruff, Zahn, et friggal al. NOthing is fair and balanced. The only marginal news is local news. They are much easier to convince that their impartiality is key. I call them on it every chance I get. Folks, keep it local. That is the key.

29. the only real news I'll watch now..
will come from C-SPAN and The Daily Show. I still think that Jon Stewart is the finest and to-the-point reporter on television. Dripping with integrity, especially when compared to the chimp-fellators on CNN and FOX.
