How do we take back America? |
|
In order to do that we need an action plan. What other items would you folks think should be part of an action plan for DUERs? Here are just a couple of ideas, about what in my mind are extremely important things, that we need to do in order to save our country. I know I'm just scratching the tip of the iceburg. I'd like to know what other issues folks around here think we should focus on?
No more neocon confirmations. With talk about Powell leaving the State Dept if W is reelected, we need to realize that it is of the utmost importance that Congress does not confirm any more neocons for key positions. If another neocon is allowed to take over the State Dept, there will be nothing left to stop this crew from fully implementing their agenda.
Also, John Ashcroft needs to step down for being the most ineffective AG in US history. He is so busy praying with his staff every morning, that he doesn't have time to bring to justice corporate criminals like Ken Lay, but he does have time to arrest sick old ladies for medical marijuana.
Last but not least, it is imperative that the Dems take back Congress. We need to do everything we can to make sure that we have fair and free elections in 2004 and take back the country, not just the WH. Without a fair and free 2004 election, America will no longer be the land of the free.

1. This is just an observation from an outsider |
|
Watching all this from afar (Canada)...it seems to me that the people who are being most directly effected by loss of jobs, pensions, no health care etc...are the less educated people. These people it seems to me would be inclined to vote Democrat. Am I correct in thinking that the majority of these people do not bother to vote? I wonder if the Republicans, knowing this, simply raise a lot of money (as they are doing now) and buy the votes of the well-off citizens who DO vote?...Would it not be most important for Democrats to ABOVE ALL convince the so-called "little guy" to get out and vote?....Perhaps I'm seeing this all wrong and I hope I'm not sticking my nose in, but that's how it looks to me....Believe me the citizens of my country and I would say most other countries would LOVE to see Bush defeated in 2004! :)

2. you cold be right about the uneducated not voting, I'm not sure, but if it |
|
is that could be why the right wingers are messing up the educational system. to produce MORE nonvoters..!! Before Ronald Raygun was Governor of California college education was FREE, yes folks, FREE !!! but he put an end to that. California was top 10 in the nation in education in the USA then, last i heard was that they were 48th in the industrialized nations..just behind Romania. there were 380 shoe factories in the USA when he was elected president... and 3 when he left office.

3. That is definitely one of the factors at play here |
|
Many people educated and uneducated do not bother to vote.
One thing to keep in mind is that to win the next election we only need to change about 5% of the non-voters into voters and the dems could take back the WH and Congress.
Another way to accomplish the same goal would be to change just 5% of the people who voted for W in 2000, to vote against him in 2004.
Either of the above shouldn't be hard to achieve, but unless we go back to a reliable and accurate system for counting votes, none of this will matter.
