1. Or his support for ONE of the candidates ? |
|
I would put money on him putting the screws to Holy Joe. What Joe is running around saying has to have Al PO'ed. Seems to me.

That would narrow my field of candidates to two. My choices for VP would stay the same.

What makes you think he'd announce tomorrow? I, personally, don't expect him to run at all.

13. Not before Lieberman bows out. |
|
It'd be hard to put a positive spin on it unless they were a team. Otherwise, the media would focus on why Gore doesn't want Lieberman again. In any case, if Gore runs, the talk will be about a rematch of 2000, which is not good, IMO, but Gore without Lieberman would be worse still. Pass the Rolaids.

29. The "WT" article quotes Former DNC'er as saying it's to push to DLC... |
|
This quote from Lunde says that Gore wants to push the party to the middle because of a perceived threat from Dean. (I don't think I believe this.....but who knows, any
From WT Article:
Brian Lunde, former executive director of the Democratic National Committee, characterized Mr. Gore's speech last year as a "sucker punch and run away." And while Mr. Gore might "get his shots in" on Thursday, Mr. Lunde said he doesn't expect Mr. Gore to match the volume of Mr. Dean's antiwar rhetoric. Rather, the speech might be part of a plan to "provide cover for the mainstream Democratic candidates" and "help be a Dean slayer" by trying to move the momentum of the party away from the far left. "He will warn the party," Mr. Lunde said. "I think there's growing concern that Howard Dean might not just be a flavor of the month, but be a real political movement."

15. I'd be surprised if he did |
|
And I hope he doesn't. He gave me permission to cast him out as a candidate for 2004, to ask me to reel him back in offers a lot of negative connotations and no positive ones. Seems like a shakey position on which to start a Presidential campaign.

I hope not. I can't see Gore wanting to do any favors for the DLC swines, but hell...who knows WTF will happen?

22. I highly doubt that ! |
|
I dont think Gore would say anything negative about any of the Dems running ! What I do hope to hear is more of his thoughts on the theif that stole the White House from him ! Iam a Gore in 04 suporter ,however I do not expect him to announce that he is getting into the race. I believe Gore will only enter this race ,if he see's that the Dems are in trouble with whom they are putting up against bush ,and if he is still polling higher then they are. Him annoucing at this time , is not a good idea and he would isolate the Dems supporting one of the others. The best way for Gore to be the one going up against bush in 2004 is thru a draft.

Gore to give anti-war speech at NYU NEW YORK, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Former Vice President Al Gore has arranged to speak out on Iraq to an anti-war group in New York Thursday. It will be Gore's first speech on Iraq since he came out against the Bush administration's push toward war last September. A Gore spokeswoman said, "He's not planning on getting back into the (presidential) race." ... http://washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking/20030805-094056-6957r.htmhttp://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=102&topic_id=52186&mesg_id=52186

He's NOT getting back in. No way, no how. That's typical Moonie Times claptrap.
Do you really think he would have gotten into a hot tub with "Joe Lieberman" on SNL if he wasn't 100% committed to not running?
Really respect the guy and he can make a bigger impact by NOT being a candidate. He knows this better than anyone.

Cause you're really bad at predictions.
Gore is doing his job speaking out as a private citizen now. And I think his efforts to create an alternative TV network is great.

24. I don't care for betting, but I would take that one |
|
if I did.
I suppose if he perceived that there were no legitimate candidates, or some part of the political spectrum that he represented wasn't being covered, he might jump in. But with a field of 9, who cover as wide a spectrum as Dems could conceivably cover, why would he?
Candidates include Senators, Reps, a Governor, an Ambassador, an outsider. No place to fit in. I love Al, but it's too late. All the territory is taken.

The micropolitics are what are equally important.
a) He pisses off every other candidate irrevokably, as well as those big donors who have already spent their first handouts elsewhere. Money in the short run will dry up and force some candidates out of the race.
b) Those that stay in will face the choice of turning from high-minded to attack dog and wind up hurting Gore in the long run. Dems would be asked to make make a choice between giving Gore a second shot at Bush and going with a fresh face. It will likely come down to Dean vs. Gore and it will be ugly.
He will likely limp into the convention victorious...but be wounded going out and Bush will likely win in a walk.
This will all hurt him tremendously when it comes to selecting a VP candidate.

http://washingtontimes.com/national/20030805-100743-9640r.htmThis is why people think he will enter the race? Sometime a speech on Iraq is just a speech on Iraq.
