Did the media and Dems listen to Clinton? |
|
President Clinton last week said that is was time to move on regarding Bush lies about the threat of Iraq against the United States. It seems like for a few weeks it was all over the news, especially the Niger fiasco. Now the story seesm dead. Why? Has Bush gotten away with another lie? No investigations? No special prosecutor? What is going on here? Clinton lies about a BJ and there is investigation after investigation, the media is all over it covering it at every angle, and here you have Bushit who flat out lies about going to war, our sons are dieing and it is a dead story? WTF!!!!
Will this scandal (if you can call it a scandal now) get back in the news so that Bush will be held accountable for once in his wasted life?

From the first I doubted that this would lead to an impeachment of Bush*. However, I think you are discounting the very real, and beneficial effects of this scandal. Now, Bush* no longer has the aura of credibility and popularity.

11. What polls were these? |
|
Fox? * was definitely affected by the scandel, to the point that the majority of Americans tended to distrust him.
I thought WJC was just laying some covering fire, but it's been awfull quite lately.

10. Beg your pardon, but there is and was there, there |

This is a story that begs to be used as a hammer against the shrub. Hell, they're using it over in Britain to hammer away at the poodle, and he is about to fall. The pResident lied and people died, and you're saying that we shouldn't go down that road:wtf: This is a major story about getting the country into a PREEMPTIVE war over lies, and it should be used to hammer the little twit until he falls. The only reason it is fading is because the puppy dog press(still beholden to Bushco) won't carry it anymore. The election will not be decided solely on the Iraq war, but in combination with a tanking economy(or do you think we shouldn't use that too?) the Dems have plenty of ammo to bring Bush down next year.
Damn, I hate Dems who just want to roll over.

C'mon, Clinton got hammered mercilessly for having consensual sex (a private matter), and in fact got impeached for it. You don't think that hundreds dying in an imperial war that was based on false premises and lies isn't more important to the American people than a bj? Man, you underestimate the morality of US citizens. You may think that since this issue is fading from the front pages that the populace is also losing interest. Yet it is still there, bubbling under the surface, with the lapdog media barely managing to keep it off the front page. Go out and talk to a 'Pug friend, neighbor, or relative, ask them what they think of this lying Niger story. More than likely(at least in my experience) they will give you an earful of how they feel Bush betrayed not only them, but the American people as a whole. These people may be Republican, but almost all of us share the same sense of morality and fair play that Bush violated.
You know, I remember when Watergate first broke. There were people then who were just willing to let it slide, after all it was just a silly little B&E. They didn't wish to look like they were playing partisan politics. Well luckily wiser heads prevailed and one of the worst presidents in history was forced out of office. Looks to me like the same dynamic is at work here, after all, it was just one silly little lie, let's not play partisan politics, yadda yadda yadda.
Here's to hoping that wiser heads will prevail again.

One can only imagine if it was President Clinton who lied about the Iraqi threat to our country and soldiers were dieing because of it. I swear we would be in a constitutional crisis right now, impeachment hearing, special prosecutor, etc... The media would not let Clinton off the hook for this one and the Dems would be jumping ship and noT supporting Clinton during the scandal. Dems would be saying that what Clinton did was unforgiveable and we need a special prosecutor. It would be a very ugly situation to say the least. But because it is Bush, who's pResidency is being sponsored from the maionstreem media and the Dems are totally spineless Bush gets away with this. SICKENING!

Another poster had an article about the fact that the military is shutting up any comments from military and their family in Iraq. I'll get the link in a minute. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=102&topic_id=53609&mesg_id=53609That's what Bush (Rove) does. They silence dissent. Sorry to seem so grim, but the only chance we have is that Dean, Nancy Polosi, Robert Byrd and the other Democrats are willing to keep bringing up these issues. And Graham is getting negative poll numbers in Florida for standing up on the issues, so he may be discouraged from doing so.

4. What is happening is that Dems have to move from one lie to the next, |
|
they are going to bring more attention to all of the other lies. They have to do this slowly so that the average voter will have it in the back of their mind that * has an integrity problem. Are you tracking?:D

I'm still seeing it referred to in many articles about the war. It's not headlining anymore, but it's mentioned. Also, the hearings about the intel failures are starting up in September so look for a redux around then...

6. The media always listened to Clinton - through a peephole |
|
if possible! Let it drop already - you sound like freepers! What he said was bad - but he hardly controls the media. meanwhile, the Dems keep attacking W.

7. Not soap opera enough ! |
|
The Clinton story was about sex , apprently a married man lying about sex is more important then young men losing their lives over false information ! Unless its your brother or sister ,son or daughter. This country needs to get its priorities straight, now bush gets another pass on one of his many lies ,the press has a new sex story for the front page , and of course sex and a married man are involved The Coby Bryant story, this will be the front page news now for some time ,while our troops deaths will get a small paragraph, somewhere towards the back page !

9. Don't forget about Joe Wilson |

This investigation by CIA is still going on and Wilson is still making the rounds on the airways.
Personally, I would love to see Wilson as a possible VP to Clark ticket - any takers on that?

12. Clinton choked off the SOTU story at the same time his DNC and DLC |
|
revved up their campaign of undercutting the left tier of candidates. The White House must remain open for Hillary in 08.
Whatever other issues develop, none will be allowed to achieve a momentum beyond their control. Larry King's line is always open.

Nothing to the story?
Lying us into a war is nothing? They've only scratched the surface of the lies. There's a whole helluva lot more than nothing to this story.

16. The issue may or may not be dead, but Clinton's defense of Bush was |

in any case absolutely unforgiveable. It wouldn't overly surprise me to see him actively campaigning for Bush in the general election. What a treacherous swine he is.

22. Once Bush took responsibility in his press conference |
|
that stopped the frenzy to a certain extent. Frankly, if Bush had done that in the beginning there would've been no scandal, per se. The WH created this mess by refusing to have Bush take the blame in the beginning. Also, the damage to Bush's credibility has been done, and there very well might be more coming out about other issues.
