Does anyone really believe Arnold will be a successful governor? |
|
I think he's completely clueless. He's no Reagan (he at least had been president of the Screen Actors Guild and had a longtime involvement in political issues). Plus, the man ain't close to being squeaky clean. There are a multitude of rumors/stories about womanizing, drug use, etc. Wouldn't Riordan have been a better GOP candidate for the WH to support? After all, if he would've gotten the nomination in 2002 instead of Simon, Davis likely would've lost reelection.

Just look at how he, Willis, and Stallone ran Planet Hollywood into the ground.

He really could win. I'm convinced of it. These are crazy times, and the the highway is littered with defunct Democratic candidates who were beaten by Republican opponents whom everyone was convinced would never get out of the starting gate. Remember how completely absurd W. looked at first? (He still does, but that's my point.) Remember how Reagan seemed like such a long shot to nervous conservatives in 1980, when they tried to shut him out and draft others? Remember when Clint Eastwood became mayor of Carmel, and everyone was stunned? Believe it. It could happen. This is a crazy land we live in.

because he is a liberal. he is pro abortion, pro gun control and pro fiscal responsibility but he happens to be pro business so he calls himself a republican. he is also hardheaded and unlikely to fall for the bizarre GOP crap that the mental case freeper wing pushes. Also he has a nice liberal wife to slap him around if he makes any stupid decisions.

think about this. You wouldn't think he'd do it without her support so maybe there is a lot more here than meets the eye. I just read another thread where some of the posters said he's more loyal to the Kennedys than he is to the GOP.

he has the perfect excuse, things were in the hopper before he got there and it takes time to make a difference. Not enough time.
If he does nothing at all he still wins. If he makes it worse, its still Davis' fault. If it gets a little better,he's still the hero.
And its not just the Terminator, whoever gets the job (apart from Davis) can and probably will be considered a success.

He went on and on saying NOTHING and was really B-O-R-I-N-G! I have a feeling he will wear thin pretty fast once he starts campaigning!

he'll have a Democratic state house, state legislature and state senate. Additionally, he'll not exactly be welcomed with open arms considering he was/is a willing participant in this recall farce. He'll not be considered legitimate and will be a Lame Duck the second he moves into the Governor's mansion. Can we say GRIDLOCK?

10. Did you see "The Last Action Hero"? This is now the world the |

GOP lives in.
They think that Ahnuld (not Gary Coleman) is well-qualified for Governor.
Biggest clue? Rush trying to paint Conan the Governor as a "social liberal" to try to con everybody into voting for steroid-brain.

14. To be "a good governor," the state has to have money. Calif is broke. |
|
You can't create popular programs with no money. You don't get loved for cutting programs that everybody needs. You can't cut taxes when the state is already broke -- you might have to consider raising them.
It's hard to see how this can really work out well for him, if he's indeed the next governor.
