Memo to Feinstein, Boxer, Pelosi and Brown -- TIME TO LEAD |
|
If you aren't going to be part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.
You should call a press conference where you anounce (1) that you are unequivocally opposed to the recall and will do everything in your power to defeat it at the polls and (2) that you believe that voters who oppose the recall deserve to have someone they can support on the second ballot and that Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamente is that person.
I know that organizing Democrats is like herding cats, but your silence in the face of the meltdown of Democratic unity over the past 24 hours is deafening. If the four of you thrown your support behind Bustamente NOW, then there's still a chance that the state insurance commissioner will drop out.

I really question his motives--he's eyeing the prize, not simply trying to stop the recall.
And I must disagree on one point--cats are more manageable than dems.

Then again, for some reason, if it's one thing Democrats are all too good at, it's self-destructing.

5. You are right, and this will happen. |
|
It's going on behind the scenes now, as it should. They need a little discipline right now. When the dust settles, and "Arnie-mania" fades bit, we'll have a single candidate.

6. Is anyone concerned about Bustamante? |
|
I'm not from California, so I don't know the answer to this, but -- at various times people have told me that he once use a very nasty racial epithet during a speech.
True or not?
If true, what were the repercussions, if any? Will any of his opponents dredge it up during the campaign?

And include Penata (if that's his name). Clinton's former chief of staff.

10. Not only do I believe they will deliver that message, but |
|
I expect that Bustamante will also deliver it. It is not a contradiction to say on the one hand that one is the most qualified of the replacement candidates and on the other that the present governor should not be recalled.
