I recall that late in the first Clinton campaign, they decided not to publicise that they had uncovered a reprimand HW received in the Naval Archive, stating he was responsible for shooting at Japanese surviviors trying to paddle away from their burning/ sinking ship - a clear violation of the Geneva Convention.

With all the indignation with the nameless soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners, I wonder how the Texas sheriff would characterise those less than honourable actions of his daddy?
