Lieberman campaign's Mark Penn says |
|
(on Buchanan & Press) "Joe Lieberman is the #1 democrat nationally, and is ahead of every body else in the polls, Kerry doesnt have a chance, its between Lieberman and Dean"
at which point Buchanan busted out in a 5 minute laughing fit and said "you know as well as i do that Lieberman wont finish higher than 4th in NH and Iowa and will be out of the race after the first two primaries".
Who is this Mark Penn character, he is listed as a "democratic pollster" working for Lieberman. Unbelievable, he was saying only new democrats have a chance, and that the term "liberal" was an insult. He keeps claiming Hillary is a new democrat like Holy Joe because shes "for a balanced budget and shes for the death penalty"

4. Obviously he knows something |

However, he's WORKING for the Lieberman campaign so of course he's not going to go on national TV and say his boss doesn't have a prayer even if that's the case.

They need a big-time reality check over at Lieberman HQ. As a Dean supporter, I think it's great that Joe is proclaiming it to be a two-person race between he and Dean, since that would be a cakewalk for Dean. But the reality is, as Buchanan points oout, Joe is going nowhere but down, and fast.
And, if being a "New Democrat" means balancing the budget and in favor the death penalty, then Dean would be, by that definition, a New Democrat.
Talk about Bizzaro World...
p.s., I *believe* Mark Penn was also a pollster for Clinton (bill) in 1996ish. Don't quote me on that, though.

Even Penn does not believe that. But he is getting big bucks in polling for Lieberman. The July report shows $120,000 just that quarter. So of course he is pumping him up. But just look at South Carolina where he had 47% and has dropped to 14%. It's all name recognition and when the voters find out more about the other candidates that name recognition doesn't mean anything.

Lets see how it reads after the first two primaries, as Buchanan pointed out.
