Local Sunoco Gas Station puts signs up stating Bush not to blame for $$$
My husband just called me to tell me that the local Sunoco gas station put up signs trying to calm people's anger over the price of gas. The signs state that in relation to other products like Evian, the price of gas isn't so bad and it states that Bush isn't to blame for it.

Has anyone else seen signs like this? I have a feeling its the local gas station's owners idea or perhaps people are giving the clerk grief...I am going to call Sunoco to complain.

Generally I wouldn't blame the POTUS for the price of gas but since the resident of the White House is a Gas and Oil leech and a horribly unnecessary war in Iraq is being fought for it...I would say he is to blame.

1. I would be definitely
going else where for gas and would actually be willing to pay more at another station. These apologists would NEVER get a penny from me.

2. Who are the ad wizards?
Maybe they can start a whole line of "Don't blame Bush" signs:

Don't blame Bush that you lost your job.

Don't blame Bush that you lost your son/daughter/husband/father/mother in Iraq.

Don't blame Bush that your water is full of arsenic.

Man, the possibilities are endless!

4. But you see ,this is GOOD NEWS!
It means that people are pissed at the price of gas, and that they are blaming (rightfully so) the Idiot Waterheaded AnalWart In Chief.

Woo hoo!! That makes me very happy!

yeah, the signs are propagandistic idiocy, but they wouldn't be going up if the gas stations weren't getting a lot of complaints about Chimpy McMoran.

YAY!

7. Me too YAY!
That was my first reaction to reading this. It's the protesting too much thingy, you see. Now people who couldn't care less about the price or Bush or whose to blame, will think... Huh? Come to think of it, why NOT blame Bush for the price of gas?

Bwaahaaahaaaaaaa ... priceless :)

11. Yes! We should be calling all gas stations and ask them to put up signs
If people started seeing them everywhere, all but the most rabid freeper is smart enough to realize that, "Hey - wait a minute - if every gas station is saying this, it must be a lie. * IS to blame for it, and he's trying to cover his ass!"

Heck, maybe we should offer to paint the signs for them!

And even when they come down,(my guess would be after Labor Day) people will see it as the price manipulation it is. This is one issure that hits home with all but the most apolitical people.

16. Maybe it's reverse psycology?
Perhaps the owner of the station is a democrat and is trying to get people to think that bush* is to blame by putting up signs which state that bush* is not to blame and

Oh, never mind.

It's a complete coincidence that the oil and gas companies rape us when there are oil and gas execs in the White House.

I think I'd make my own sign and tape it up at the station. :toast:

12. This is simple to resolve.
have peopel go in and ask them to justify how it isn;t his fault and where they believe the fault lies. Be sure to ask, if not Bush, then what role does Sunoco play in the high prices....

Waste their time, by forcing them to justify their actions. If enough do it, the signs will be removed.

13. No no no no
Leave the signs up! Even better, rephrase them for a sort of sarcastic ring:

BUSH is responsible for these high gas prices... NOT! :eyes:

The point is, it doesn't matter what the friggin sign says. If it says Bush and ANYTHING about the high gas prices, that is a good thing.

15. Troubles In Pleasant Valley Sunday...Warning Will Robinson!
Filling up recently, I saw some local in their Hummer pull to the pump...as the guy hopped out someone else yelled..."Good luck, hope you've got a second mortgage to fill that tank up"...and laughter followed.

I go to a local independent and know the operator pretty well. He's an immigrant (from the Middle East) and has faced two years of racism and security problems. Drive offs are at an all-time high (he closes the far pumps at sundown) and has had windows broken and property vandalized by locals.

Is it the price of gas? Is it them being "feriners?". I think it's a bit of both.

This is yet another landmine this greedy regime set that's blown up under their hummer...they attempted to manipulate oil prices in 2000 to make the economy bad for Gore (which resulted in this recession) and have been caught trying to do it again. The last time they didn't care, I'll bet they try that tact this time as well, just not sure if it'll work.

But then that guy spent the $50 to fill that hummer and probably would eat his own before he'd give up that mid-life crisis toy. We are so accustomed to oil company abuse because cars and mobility are part of our national libido.

34. Good points.
The California electrical brownouts and high prices in 2000 - 2001 were manipulated by Enron and other electricity providers.

No wonder Cheney keeps a tight grip on the minutes of those Energy Council meetings.

38. Enron Got On Our Radars With The Brownouts...
...remember, they had bought up a lot of the power distribution and shutdown facilities...then "had to" buy power from other states (primarily Texas) at "what the market rate" (translation: bend over and smile!). The wingnuts then yelled that we were tin-hatters and it was Clenis fault for NIMBY (not in my back yard) regulations, Kyoto, Al Gore, Budhist temples, blowjobs, tree hugging and you name it that was the cause.

Yep, you gotta wonder why not only Mr. Chenney, but Mr. Scalia seem to want thinks hidden in "Executive Privlidge" as to what happened in those energy meetings held on OUR dime. It's bad enough we can't get the notes to the meetings held in Austin in '98-'00 that laid out this entire gameplan.

And speaking of Enron, anyone have the link to the Skilling Gone Wild story? I lost my bookmark and have some people who need a good laugh.

Also...any word on where Kenny Boy stands with a grand jury in Harris County?

17. My husband has a republican friend who owns a number of gas stations
This guy is pissed off at the games the oil companies are playing and is (FINALLY!) starting to get pissed off at bush for his chummy relationship with the Saudis and the oil companies. He says that private station owners are not making any money, in fact his profits are way down.

This guy used to be a big bush supporter, but he is slowly turning against him.

18. Is anyone sick as I am of the gas/milk/Evian price comparison?
The Republicans are CONSTANTLY falling back on the plea that gas is cheap compared to milk , bottled water, and Chanel No. 5.

But if I had to burn through 10 gallons of milk every week to drive to and from work, I'd be pretty pissed off at the price of that too. It's such a bullshit comparison.

Fucking hell. Ive gotten that email a few times now already.

And I always say the same thing:

"Well, good thing I don't go through about 40 gallons of milk per month. Otherwise that would be really expensive. And, thank God my car doesn't run on Coca-Cola. Otherwise, I guess I would really be fucked, eh?"

Or, or, what if instead of ten gallons of gasoline I had to buy ten pounds of gold every week! Gee... Thank God gas is so cheap, compared to the price of, say, diamonds.

Jesus, its so damn fucking stupid.

Here is the one thing I don't get about conservatives: How can someone be so sycophantic? I mean, sycophantic to an insane degree, even when it hurts them. For example, log cabin republicans...

I just don't understand it.

And not just regular Captain, either. Captain Morgon private stock.

I had to sell it, though, because $20 for 750mL of fuel was just too much.

25. other than the not blaming Bush part
I can see why such a sign would exist. They put them up here in 2000 when gas prices were close to $2.00. Those stations make a pittance on the gasoline and they were bearing the brunt of the complaints.

29. the hell he's not to blame
his petromasters are using our gas prices just the way Enron created and manipulated California's "energy crisis" in 1999-2000 to make trillions in profits and funnel billions into the bushgang's reselection coffers.

Along with the endless terror scares and high unemployment, it is also part of their FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) factor marketing campaign.

Wow...does a sign like that do ANYTHING but remind the people who read it that it IS this unelected drunk's fault? (Actually, it also reminds people how out of touch with reality Bush supporters are.)

If I were you, I'd call and suggest that they start giving away a set of "It's not Bush's fault" glasses, one with each fill-up...

You could have the surplus gone, the Enron swindle , the Halliburton swindle, the flight suit fiasco, the lucky trifecta, the missing WMDs, 3 million jobs down the crapper....collect 'em all!

By the way, gasoline of a blend that will actually allow my car to run without coughing up a lung costs over $2.15 down at the local Astrojet gas station.
