How much air time did Kerry's bus tour get? Bush bus tour BIG NEWS.
The disparity if just sickening. I did not see one iota of videotape of Kerry on his bus tour. Chris Jansing is LIVE previewing Bush's appearance in Michigan - ooh look at the CROWDS - and of course they'll go live when he opens his insipid piehole.

Then let's talk about the commericials. They showed Bush's commercials on the 'news programs" - in full - over and over; I remember seeing one THREE times during one "Inside Politics". Today, with Kerry launching a $25 million ad blizt, I see 15 seconds or so of his spot - but have not heard ONE SECOND of AUDIO - the anchors just blab over the pictures.

Even Howie Kurtz published the disparity in the air time, and okay, the cables carried Kerry's speech live on Friday.

But the disparity is just enormous. What a fight ahead.

2. Kerry speaking to ADL now. Covered ONLY by C-SPAN.
Damn. Just wait till Chimpy speaks. Will the cable "news" channels cover in its entirety - or just 75-80%?

Geez.

3. Good thing
nobody watches the cable people. 6 million viewers a day is pretty bad. Over 1/3 of them watch Fox, and we already know who they'd vote for anyway. The CNN people are talking to themselves. The only people who watch are the anchors' familiy members. Don't sweat it.

By contrast, someone posted a thread here a few days ago with an article about how much local media coverage Kerry got in Ohio during his 2 day visit. It talked about how most people still say that they get their news from local outlets, and then described that Kerry's visit was front-page news in most local Ohio papers and on the TV news. Positive headlines too.

Stop watching CNN... you can lower your antacid budget if you turn it off.

4. Orwellian Double-Standards are the norm for Totalitarian Nations
Like Imperial Amerika is rapidly becoming.

They have to strain mightily now to even provide the mildest shred of fairness and impartiality.

And of course Fox is and has always been the analogue of Soviet Pravda, Isevstia, and the Nazi Newspapers

(say, what was Mussolini's Fox "News"? That's a gap in my historical knowledge)

5. Okay Fox just showed about 30 seconds.
Now talking about Kerry's ads - once again - reporter talking over the ad - now ciriticizing how ad is long overdue, Kerry flipflopper, public outcry from Dems...yadayadayada.

8. Live, breathless, he just landed! He might walk toward our cameras.
MSRNC.

This is historic. A sitting President on a bus tour! Of course Bill Clinton and Al Gore did it, but they weren't President!

Live - piehole speaking.

7. I still say...
It'll be only *honestly* BIG news if Bush appears before a non-pre-screened, open invitation crowd. I'd like to see what would happen then, if the free speech zone was suddenly right in front of him.

The worst excuse is when the news networks say (And I heard this on one of them, CNN, I think) that "Bush is automatically news, because he is the president...we can't help that Kerry gets less coverage!" So much for journalism...when balance is called for, they whine that it's impossible, when and when there's only one truth, they have to scrape up some artificial second side of the story.

But maybe I'm at a high point at my cynicism sine wave right now.

9. That was my first thought when the giddy report was advertised
This is what we are up against. The one thing that this should drive home to all here is that we should not be ragging on Kerry for his image when he is not at all in control of what the media chooses to present. The work of presenting our candidate should not be left to the campaign. We have to work to get his message out.

With a little effort, we can build on the efforts of the Kerry campaign and help spread the word.

How? With the handy dandy:
