Where Is The Outrage Over These Gas Prices? |
|
During the last year of the Clinton Presidency, or should I say the last year we actually had a President, gas prices shot up and the nation was in a rage. People were calling for the heads of oil companys and demanding that the Congress take everyone in the oil business to task and better yet, to jail. Over the weekend the pirce of gas hot up by a dime in this area, and not a peep out of anyone. How is this nation of sheep going to act when the hyper inflation that is comming as surely as the midnight express hits?

21. The folks in power are making money on these prices, hush! |
|
The nitwit dittoheads who listen to Rush everyday think it is their patriotic duty to make the oligarchy more and more wealthy. The right wing nitwits can't bring themselves to admit that Bush is a dolt and that they are worse off than he is because a 'dolt' could make them believe that war is peace and lies are truth. No one likes to admit that they are fooled or foolish. And, their misguided feelings of superiority and their deep-seeded racism is something that they are just not willing to give up.

Actually it would help the prices considerably if the would just stop trying to fill it up, they don't have to actually drain out a drop.
It has bothered me for some time now that the Bush administration has ceaselessly been filling the Stragegic Petroleum Reserves since day one in office. They've just about got that big salt-dome tank topped off right now and I have to wonder just what their great cause for concern is. This one really does scare me.

I want these prices to stay high, so maybe a few people will start to carpool...maybe a few people will pass on purchasing an SUV...and maybe a few a-holes who had to have a huge SUV to drive to the mall can regret it while they pay enormous gas prices to fill their gas guzzler.
I do NOT want to see congress or the pres open up the oil reserves, so everyone can still drive gas guzzlers.

Any time anyone says 'word to your mother' I'm brought back to a... less than sober moment when I replied with "I'll pass it along" and everyone stared at me for about five minutes...

8. The Repukes SCREAMED for Clinton to tap the strategic reserve in 00 |
|
Funny how prices after being in the $1.20-1.25 range here in the Midwest for YEARS suddenly shot up to $1.80 when Gore became the candidate.
Just by Gore being associated with Clinton had the Repukes screaming that the Dems had no energy policy or prices wouldn't have spiked like this. They also screamed and stomped their feet because Clinton hadn't tapped into the SR.
Funny,I don't hear them doing the same this time around. Of course if we had some Dems in Washington that didn't wear pink tutu's and fliter around this might be more of a news issue...

13. You mean where gas went up this weekend again... |
|
...by four cents to eight cents a gallon in Central Florida? The average price is hovering at around $1.82 per gallon today but I have seen it at $1.79. This summer is when it will hit the fan, but I think Bush has this covered with the Saudis, who are reaping windfall profits now and into the summer. Then they'll stage a roll back of the prices during the Republican National Convention so Bush can claim that he is doing all he can to keep oil prices down.

24. That is a bullshit argument |
|
Yes, gas prices at the pump are higher in much of the world, but it that is not a function of the price of oil or the price of refining. Those countrys choose to tax gas, and we don't. The price of the underlieing product is the same, or nearly so. So it is just pure bullshit to say that europeans pay $20 a gallon or whatever it is, that is meaningless.

18. Where's the outrage about prices vs Oil Co profits? |
|
Here's part of my letter to the editor published a few weeks ago : "Why don't articles on this subject ever mention the obscene profits realized by the oil companies? May I compare oil profits for 2002 and 2003 for just a few of these companies? Exxon Mobile $11.5 billion;$21.5 billion, Chevron-Texaco $1.1 billion; $7.2 billion and BP Plc $8.7 billion; $12.7 billion. This begs the question,"how much profits are enough?" when every aspect of our daily lives are dependent on these companies' products."

it will drop as soon as you re-elect bush. or shortly before, as some encouragement. you just have to postpone your guzzling till labor day.

30. There is a third factor I do not see here |
|
That is the declining U.S. dollar on the world market. Yes, Saudi Arabia may lower prices just before the elections. Yes, the Bush administration is filling up the Strategic Reserve and has been. Yes, the Oil companies are making a killing at this time. But the Bush administration has all but killed off the U.S. dollar with their bullshit policies. Let's see that in the U.S. media.
