BushCo gets two days of headlines from the Halliburton hostage "escape" |
|
This thing reminds me of Jessica Lynch.
This was on the front page of the papers today, instead of the 14 dead soldiers this weekend. Instead of the torture story involving military intelligence. Instead of the Plame investigation. Instead of anything and everything else.
Karl knows this game inside out and our Pravda media loves it. This seems like an example of what Suskind called "creating reality."
Anybody else think this is a KKKarl Special?
(Of course I am glad this guy is okay. I just don't believe the story.)

Check out some details from the latest CNN story:
<snip>
LANDSTUHL, Germany (CNN) -- After three weeks of captivity by Iraqi insurgents, American Thomas Hamill walked free when his guards apparently fled from an approaching U.S. Army patrol, soldiers who found him said Monday.
<snip>
Hamill's aunt, Coleene Higginbotham, told CNN's "American Morning" that the family's faith "never wavered" during her nephew's captivity.
"We always believed God would bring him through this," she said. "Through it all, he's given us strength to know that he was going to bring him through it."

Hammill was treated quite well by his attackers. In fact at one point he escaped into the desert, but turned around and went back to his captors because he knew he would be fed and not allowed to die of thirst!
Oh, those evil Iraqis!

2. there was a thread here this weekend that says the guy got lost |
|
"escaping" and had to go back to the house where he had been held to get water and directions to the Americans
Don't know how true it was, but sounds about right.

3. I don't think Rove will get much benefit from this |
|
People already know things are going badly in Iraq.

4. Halliburton is putting a lot of money behind this "feel good" campaign |
|
hoping that if you feel good about Hamill, you will feel good about Halliburton.
Halliburton is scum. It is good that Hamill is going home but that does not change the fact that Halliburton is Scum.

5. according to Ed Schultz today |
|
the taxpayers are picking up the tab for flying this guy's family to Europe and all of the other costs. But GI's on leave have to buy their own tickets home.
