Contract Workers Implicated in Prison Abuse Remain on the Job

WASHINGTON, May 3 — More than two months after a classified Army report found that two contract workers were implicated in the abuse of Iraqis at a prison outside Baghdad, the companies that employ them say that they have heard nothing from the Pentagon, and that they have not removed any employees from Iraq.

For one of the employees, the Army report recommended "termination of employment" and revocation of his security clearance. For the other, it urged an official reprimand and review of his security clearance.

But J. P. London, chief executive of CACI, one of the companies involved, said in an interview on Monday that "we have not received any information or direction from the client regarding our work in country — no charges, no communications, no citations, no calls to appear at the Pentagon."

Ralph Williams, vice president for communications for Titan, the other company, also said Monday that the company has heard nothing, and that none of Titan's workers have been recalled.

1. Does 'contract worker' = mercenary in this case?
It's confusing enough, what;s going on over there, without the Ministry of Information's euphemisms.

The Uniform Code of Military Justice isn't going to apply, so just throw the f***ers in jail.

4. Well contractor work is a generic term and no laws apply to them
they don't come under US law because they are not in the US and they don't come under Iraqi law because they are in Iraq under the direction of an occupying power. The same goes for US soliders right now as far as Iraqi Officials taking any action against US forces. US forces though are under the UCMJ, but the UCMJ doesn't not apply to civilians, except in very specific circumstances with the Presidents approval. Contractors do a entire host of jobs for the military forces security is but one of them. However the typest and cooks, and laundry people usually ain't over there killing and raping people.

2. free range psychos
the fact that no one has been fired tells the whole story. it's all standard procedure, and they have no real plans to change that.
some contract workers in iraq drive trucks, others torture and kill folks.

when 9-11 happened, no one was fired. not one son of a bitch in the 'intelligence' community was even scolded. this also is very telling. it's just standard procedure to fire a few underlings to make a good showing, but when NO ONE gets fired, something stinks.

7. Progressives wasted no time informing investors via message boards
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/mb?s=CAI

and taking immoral investors to task:

In the very long term if there are more scandals such as these that involve private subcontractors then the whole industry could be hurt but that would take something pretty extraordinary, like maybe a bunch of private security guards slaughtering a village. But I presume we are a long way from that.

If that does happen CACI would surely suffer even if it is not directly in the armed security business.

But with their profit margins there is plenty of money to be made until that day comes!

Some 23 year old from San Francisco told him what a disgusting statement that was...

The investors are bummed, worried, and/or burying their heads a they spin.

No one there may have a job by the time this is over.
