Colleague and husband to vote Dem!
I work in a very conservative town, yet a colleague and her husband (they voted bush) will vote for Kerry! This makes 6 ex-bushites at my place of employment. This colleague's husband's reserve unit just got called up for Afghanistan. This was the tipping point, but she said that close friends of theirs will be voting Kerry this time because, as she put it, "This war in Iraq will do Bush in."

8. Sorry, but screw them
I could write a long, LONG list of things Bush has done or failed to do that are more than enough reason not to vote for him. With 348 posts to your credit, I'll bet you could also, right off the top of your head.

But, for the last straw for these people to see the light to be the husband getting called up - screw 'em. Only when it touched him personally did he switch. I'm just guessing here, but without the call-up, they'd be just peachy voting for Chimpy.

There was another post on this site a while ago that linked to a story about a Right Wing, ex-military, solid Repub type that announced he had finally decided not to vote for Bush. For the first time in his life (meaning he voted for Nixon, Reagan, Bush-I, Dole, and Chimpy), this guy was going to vote Democrat. His reason: Bush had cut funds for medical care for veteran's, and now HE was going to have to pay more for his taxpayer-provided health care. Not the war in Iraq, not failing to support troops, not lying to the public, not destroying the economy, not the courts, or environment, or labor, and a lot more - but HIS health care. The fact that 40 million others who don't have anything close to the care he gets - but still have to pay for his - clearly escaped this selfish, narrow minded jerk.

I'm guessing that your colleague and her husband are really true Repukes. Give me MINE... and YOURS..., and the rest be damned.

9. She
said that the reason they voted bush is that Gore just wasn't appealing to them. They are swing voters. Also, I remember her mentioning a while back that she thought Iraq was a bad idea.

I know where you're coming from, though. My dad, a lifelong Mepublican, votes his pocketbook, claims it really doesn't matter who is president.

11. Believe it or not:
All who voted for bush are not morons. This colleague is a sharp lady. I have every confidence that she will dodge the B.S. hurled by monkey man.

12. Unfortunately, it's not a question of intelligence. We can see that
from all the assholes who continue to pretend that the emperor has clothes on. Bush supporters just don't give a fuck about anybody but themselves. They agree with the "we should control the world" bullshit. It wouldn't matter if he was a babbling idiot. Oh wait! He IS a babbling idiot.

13. According to
Janeane Garofalo those who vote for Bush in this election have a serious character flaw. I agree.

15. Reason?
Thanks for your reply. Loved the "Mepublican" Going to use that one in the future.

I served on a jury (I want you to know,...ahem...that I have been on 3 of them, and just got my 8th summons to duty last week - in 12 years!) and once wound up the jury foreman. During three days of deliberations, on a relatively simple drug case, ONE guy was holding out. He said he "just didn't feel" right in convicting this guy. Couldn't/wouldn't put his finger on the issue. We were facing a 4th day of this, and I was stumped. I went to the book of rules for the jury and found the phrase that said if you have a doubt you must be able to give a reason for the doubt. I demanded a reason, and we finally got it resolved.

For your friends reason to vote for Bush that, "Gore just wasn't appealing", sounds like my jury buddy. They refused to think.

Also, your dad is wrong. While I can understand selfishly voting for your wallet, there is far more at stake. You only need to point out to him the damage Bush is doing to the federal courts. I as lucky. My family has NEVER voted "Mepublican".
