The Tortured Iraqi War Supporter |
|
We tried to tell them: Invading Iraq was going to prove to be a disasterous mistake. We were told to, "sit down, shut up and support the Commander-in-Chief." "Traitors" and "Saddam lovers," we were called. Well, it turns out, we were right, they were wrong. And deep inside, it must be eating away at them. Liberals! A humiliation worthy of anything dreamed up in an Iraqi prison.
Oh, they feel it alright. The deflection, parsing of words and ridiculous quibbling displayed by the right-wing talking heads is evidence of denial. The childish antics displayed by the FreeRepublic-types illustrates the fact that these folks are no longer even attempting to rationally communicate their point of view. Diversion and lashing out is all they have left. Both are rooted in anger and fear. Reality no longer jibes with the deluded fantasy they have created to define all that is good in the world. George Bush is not the "Second Coming." The United States is far from perfect. Things fall apart...
Too many human beings are dead or suffering to say "I told you so." I personally get no satisfaction speaking or writing the words. Besides, we will all be exposed to the fallout of shame brought on by this debacle. Perhaps that's the common experience that will bring us together, so that we can get on with the business of mending the soul of this once great nation.

7. The left was writing letters to congresscritters in the 80s-- |
|
--demanding that aid to Saddam be stopped. Legislation to that effect was passed, and vetoed by Reagan and Bush I.
And now we get called "Saddam lovers' by human vegetables who couldn't be bothered to put down their remotes long enough to do the same.
