Mike Moore, Disney and DU |

Is it just me or do we seem to be lacking somewhat in outrage over this?

Lots of press, lots of coverage, lots of discussion. And lots of squirming by Bush and Co.

I refuse to go to his site. Does anyone have a non-Drudge link on this story?

Well, that really sucks.
I've been a Disney defender in the past. But this is not defensible. But Jeb Bush is a COWARDLY BULLY to pull this kind of shit. It just goes to further illustrate that the BFEE needs to be taken down.

I was totally outraged, until I thought about it a little and decided I needed to know more details.

9. I think someone on DU said it best...If Moore's film wins best picture |
|
Edited on Wed May-05-04 08:23 PM by Zinfandel
at Cannes next week...it's going to be an all time major embarrassment for a lot of people and there will absolutely be no way, that the film won't be released in the US.
What Disney is doing is the best possible publicity for Michael Moore's film ("Fahrenheit 9-11") that anyone could hope for.

10. Apparently in a statement on his website he said at the end that |
|
you will "see it this summer" because this still is a free country....I would say that somehow this will end up marketed. I don't know anything about "the business" but is it possible for example, if necessary, to bring it out on DVD/video???

12. I figure Moore is a shoe-in to win the Cannes Festival |
|
It'll come out before November 2. I guarantee it. There is absolutely no way this film will not see the theaters prior to the election.
The results of the Cannes Film Festival will insure it, the world will be outraged if it is not released, and the truth will out.

15. No, you are not the only one who is outraged. |
|
I am particularly struck by the reputed fear by Disney of retaliatory tax increases in Heb Bush's Florida on the vast Disney holdings there. This abrogation of free speech is frightening. We have to keep developing and supporting our own media outlets. I hope that the whole attempt to silence Moore backfires and gives the film even more advance publicity. Anyone for picketing and /or boycotting a Disney store?

16. It's been all over CNN today..... |
|
Came right out and said that Disney doesn't want to piss off Jeb and lose tax favor in Florida.
Reverse engineer that and I hear a White House threat.

All over the IRC as well...as well as the Media©
The upshot...everyone else in the world will see it, but unfortunately, Americans (especially democrats) will have to pay money to Disney to see it...
I vaguely rem a story about how MM thought his movie would come out AFTER the election...
Maybe the negotiations between MM and disney will continue and maybe the US will invade another country which will provide MM an opportunity to make MORE money for Disney...
Who knows...
