Wingnut pundits doing a 180 on torture photos
I watched some of Scarborough Country over the last few days and was surprised at how revulsed he was at the prison photos.

Tonight, he started his show off with pictures of the Kurd gassing and other Hussein atrocities and sounded off about how the media has been on this recent prison photo story 4 or 5 days already, and asked whether a few smiling GI thumbs-up photos with Iraqis (who certainly aren't being harmed) are worse than what he showed.

Looks like there's a fax from the RNC to kill this story, maybe in favor of the John O'Neill story that no one's paying much attention to. Of course, Rush has been with the program since Day 1.

1. Rush said . . .
They (the American torturers)are just blowing off steam.

Silly, frat boy stuff, that torture.

I think that indicts the frats more than it exonerates the soldiers, doesn't it?

4. I think today
someone said Rush compared the pics to Brittany Spears video.

Of course that's what the ditto heads want to hear. But a blow job is Impeachable. Ah, the disconnect...

9. Well

Maybe I ought to go give Rush a good old-fashioned ass-whipping and then say, "aww, c'mon Rush, I was just blowing off a little steam."

14. How would Rush like it if he was told to strip naked and bend over
to spread his fat ass cheeks in front of a camera? Everyone knows if the situation was reversed and this happened during the Clinton/Gore administration, he would be singing a different tune.

18. But..but...but...
Saddam was our buddy back then. You can't hold American administrations responsible for things done by people who were our buddies at the time.

Saddam's guilt for these crimes is retroactive. It was just fine when he was actually doing them, but once he was no longer our buddy, then he instantly became guilty of crimes against humanity.

At least I think that's how Bush "logic" works.

3. Time to start talking up Rummy with holding the information
I've heard recently Rumsfeld asked CBS ( who complied ) to hold the story for 2 weeks. During that time he reported to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and never mentioned the story or the report

17. If CBS had released the story two weeks ago,
it would have hit the news at exactly the time when the Bush admin was arguing before SCOTUS that it needs the ability to run detainee camps without supervision. Oh, that would have been embarrassing!

21. Don't know about Rummy...
Edited on Wed May-05-04 10:14 PM by krkaufman
... but Gen. Myers *did* ask CBS to sit on the story. And Rummy *was* in front of the committee the afternoon before '60 Minutes II' televised the story.

and now has a totally different opinion than yesterday. Now it's, "Well, we've had enough of that story. It wasn't really so bad being hooked up to electrodes and having a fluorescent light bulb shoved up your ass."

7. Don't forget that the very people responsible for the torture
RELEASE 60 % of the detainees (innocent civilians) after being tortured and give them 10.00 for their inconvenience!

We are torturing innocent people! Make light of that you republican asshole! We tried and hung Nazi's for the same thing and we are readying Saddam for war crimes of the same nature!

11. Not a good idea for RNC to take this lightly
Americans are disgusted by the torture photos, as are people all over the world. To suddenly begin dismissing them would be a huge mistake for the RNC...especially so soon after * was forced to go on international TV to apologize for the atrocities.

12. It's a pretty sad day when the repukes
are reduced to comparing Bush's Iraq invasion and the torture of prisoners to the regime of Saddam Hussein. Actually not sad but extremely pathetic. They are really reaching here.

13. Someone should let the moron
know that the same bunch of assholes who are running the show now were supplying Saddam Hussein with sattelite imagary of the people he was gassing. They might also point out that this same bunch were the ones who supplied him the where with all to manufacture the gas he was using.

Old habits die hard.

15. Did Joe "dean Intern" Scarborough show this photo?
taken when the atrocities in Iraq were occuring in the 1980s

who does he think kept the images of reagan's iraq off tv, anyway?

so now 'saddam did worse' exonerates the wv hick girl and the rest of the current troops...brilliant resoning

and limbaugh also said that viagra ads on tv are more offensive than the stuff in these photos. the issue isn't whether pillboy wants it on his tv or not. the issue is that u.s. troops are abusing captured iraqis and violating international law

But dittoheads who can't think past their own nose let Rush get away with burying the issues with his misdirection.
