if Bush should not fire Rummy, then the House should draw Articles of Impeachment since this has risen to high crimes and misdemeanors

32. Here's a way to mobilize the left
i.e., if we can effectively try Bush in public - a defacto impeachment - I can see the country mobilized to the extent that in November, the result will be assured.

Edited on Thu May-06-04 01:08 PM by AgentLadyBug
the biggest thing america needs is for its *people* (the 4th branch of government) to do something right - voting jackass out would be perfect...

let the impeacment discussion happen, then die off, leaving bush a sitting duck for november......

additionally, not impeaching will give voters strong incentive to vote the repub house bums out too.....

<edit: oh - lol - we're impeaching rummy, not bush... nevermind...>

Section 4. The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

29. Whether a cabinet secretary is a civil officer or not is an open question.
Civil officers, at the time of the Founders, were people like Collectors of Ports, and such.

The Constitution is silent on the very existence of a cabinet.

47. Because they have no power.....
it's a standard dynamic..... those without power are liberal, innovative, challenging..... those with power are conservative, closed, and so forth....

there are more-or-less sound reasons for this dynamic, and it's VERY wide ranging... For a more abstract discussion of this, see Thomas Kuhn, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.

Here is a rough estimate from one of the boards:
Looks like its for Rumsfeld not Bush.

"...an atmosphere where all of the people in iraq have been demonized, where it appears to american people and certainly to our military that the people in iraq are responsible for 911 and causing us pain, that the secretary of defense did have info months ago about these atrocities and that he kept it from the president, he kept it from the Congress, and he kept it from the American people.

I think that this rises to the point that it's a high crime and a misdemeanor, if he disappointed the president, kept information from the congress and kept this information from the american people, I think America and the world wants us to show the outrage, not by rhetoric, but by taking action!

And if the president doesn't fire the secretary, if he doesn't resign, I think it's the responsibility of this Congress to file articles of impeachment and force him to leave office.

Then the whole world would know, not just our military, not just Americans, but the whole world what we stand for.

f people can say mission completed when it looks like there's victory, and we see atrocities like this and it happens on someone's watch. If they don't have the dignity to say, "I'm sorry," and move on, the we have the responsibility under our Constitution to remove these people from office. He kept the info away from this congress. We have the responsibility of oversight. I'm preparing articles of impeachment today.
