Judge offers some men option of jail or vasectomy
I'll withhold comment for the moment.

NEWPORT, Ky. - For some men showing up in court for being habitually behind in child support, their choice is jail or a vasectomy.

Campbell County Family Court Judge D. Michael "Mickey" Foellger has given the option to a few men who had multiple children and were tens of thousands of dollars behind on their child support.

Foellger said he considers it an effective way to get his message across - that having children is a responsibility.

"If these children are in poverty because these guys are not paying their child support, I have no qualms about it," he said of his policy. "I don't think these men deserve to have any more children."

2. but what do you think of his proposal?
on the one hand, how can these guys come up with the cash when they are incarcerated?

on the other hand, what will it take to make people more responsible about bringing more lives into this world than one can afford?

7. As opposed to "abstinence only" sex ed
It's a bit like teaching math by saying you should never ever solve an equation.

8. Equations are dangerous things
Solving equations can lead to the creation of nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons... of MASS DESTRUCTION.

9. I would imagine that someone who has had at least
Four children with three different women knows about condoms by now. But it matters not to them, if they've ducked out of over $10,000 in support payments.

5. I have no problem
as long as it is for habitual problem cases and not just anyone. Those kids deserve to be supported and not forgotten.

6. For these cases, I support it.

On the one hand, it's clearly unconstitutional to order someone to be sterilized. But on the other hand, they do have a choice in the matter - they can accept jail time instead.

<snip>
Go to jail for 30 days, or have the vasectomy. The option applies to men who have had more than four children with at least three different women, and who owe more than $10,000 in court-ordered support.
</snip>

Yet under those circumstances, I have to say I support it.

edited because I decided that in these limited circumstances, I don't have mixed feelings about it after all.
