I am sick and disgusted by the torture and the excuses (a small rant)

I have no words to describe how I felt when I first saw those photos. The closest are shame and disgust. The swine who did this were wearing the uniform of our country. Yours and mine all of us. They and their higher ups have besmirched the honor of every brave, decent man or woman who have worn that uniform since the days of Valley Forge.

And to top that off we have the legions of bloodless men who profess great sorrow and much contrition but every action they took up to this minute have been to deny that anyone has any rights at all and they can do with people as they please. Can it be that fucking maybe the rot is from the top down? "get results I don't care how and don't tell me what you do" Those orders are as old as the hills.

And we have the kneeling butt kissing sycophants in talk radio and on the cable channels who minimize and temporize and who offer feeble excuses and liken this to frat hazing. Well yeah if fucking frats had tanks and airplanes invaded countries and kept people prisoner I could see some justification in that otherwise no.

And there is the "well they did it" Bullshit. WE ARE NOT "THEM" GODDAMN IT you morons. We didn't just shoot the Nazis for Christ's sake - and we sure as shit didn't do this to them.

I don't post but this this - oh god - this is just so awful I don't even have the words. Every damn time I read the news I want to take a long hot shower like the one in Silkwood.

Dear God we are so much better than this. This is such a fantastic place. I always thought that we really were as Lincoln said the last best hope for humanity. Foolish maybe, but there you are. Now? Now I think we're just another empire who's time will come and our monuments will end up broken and covered with sand for some future wanderer to puzzle at.

Now I just want to crawl under a rock until I feel strong enough to start working to repair the damage. And that job won't be done in my lifetime.

I am sick to my stomach. I hope those pictures are fake...but I am afraid of what will happen if these are real pictures
