Iraq torture: This is what raising kids as conservatives does to them...
remember when John Lindh was captured, and the right wingers were going on and on about how he was what happens to kids raised in liberal families...

Where are all those commentators now? Can they even see the link between the hatred and fear that they spew and the actions of the american torturers in Iraq?

1. in all fairness
this isn't "conservatism". and neither are our "leaders" "conservatives". they are in the midst of creating a new word that describes them and their ilk.

2. To be specific...
This is neo-conservatism, not to be confused with the old way conservatives.

3. I use the term they use: "Conservatives" like Hannity, Rush, Coulter, etc.
you are right, they are actually traitors to the true conservative cause.

But they use that term and so I'll use it too to describe their sick and twisted ways of thinking.

(with apologies to true conservatives)

4. Krauts, Japs, Commies, Gooks, and now it's A-rabs
I think our military is trained to revert to their lowest racist instincts when training to kill. Propaganda must be used to dehumanize our enemies, that makes it easier to kill them. Remember that Oklahoma City bomber Tim McVeigh was heavily influenced by the white supremist subculture within the US Army.

5. not just "white supremacist"; CONSERVATIVE
Edited on Fri May-07-04 08:02 PM by ithacan
blaming it on "white supremacist subculture" lets the conservatives off the hook too easily by saying, oh, it's only these marginal crazies.

No, it is the "mainstream" "conservative" movement personified by Fox News and the Bush regime that is what is shaping the values of many of these kids.

This is not about some splinter crazy marginal group. It's about a crazy extremist group that is running this country!

6. #1 undisputable fact: This war was a racist endeavor
It was sold to the American public by exploiting racist messages and stereotypes.

7. I agree 100%. Rush Limbaugh is as much the author of this as anyone
He routinely engage in the dehuminization of his political opponents. That, plus military training that emphasizes the dehuminization of your opponents. Toss in the lies about 9/11, and nothing that comes out of Iraq would surprise me.
