disgusting letter in my paper today

Have we forgot the deeds of our enemies?

To the editor:

How childish/amateurish the recent Iraqi POW torture incident is. Looked like a "Frat Party" in college. If that cell block was run by the CIA/ Military Intelligence, it is no wonder 9/11 happened. It was stupid to take pictures. We put bags on their heads and poured cold water on them. Man, that is terrible. Does anyone remember what Germans, Japanese, North Koreans, Chinese, North Vietnamese and even old Sadaam did to our POWS? I'm tired of hearing the Brokaws/ Werners (big John) talk about how sickening this is. What is sickening is people jumping to their deaths in the World Trade Center, little Israeli children killed by those nuts or a five year old Vietnamese girl being blown up by the VC so she looked like raw hamburger thrown on the wall. GENEVA Convention, HA! that is a bigger joke than the United Nations. Win their hearts and minds? HA again! Nixon won the North Vietnamese hearts and minds using seven days 24-7 bombings of B-52s They quit a week later. But we send Americans over there, tie their hands and then bury them all by a government that has less that 5% of its leaders who ever served. Quit being stupid. Those folks want to kill us. And what is done to prevent such killings is the right thing to do. Maybe we could bring them all here put them up in a Hilton Hotel with lots of food, cable TV and hot and cold running maids. The PINKOs would approve of that.

2. Mr Gross.....please send your son or daughter to the local recruiting...
station. We see that you are a hardcore "American patriot" and are
willing to sacrifice your children in our great imperial endeavors.

3. Get everyone you know to write a good rebuttal
This cannot go unanswered. There should be a firestorm of righteous indignation in response to this cretin.

15. Good rebuttal to that?
No, as a matter of fact.

It's RW radio level discourse. We can do this because we're better than they are and no international convention can stop us. It's the manifest destiny nonsense that says "democracy" is for whites only.

The letter writer is an out-and-out know nothing. There's nothing one can do to reason with him. Like an Ann Coulter piece, the letter is devoid of any worthwhile intellectual content, only good for shock value.

5. That dude should read Eccleiasticus 20:1
20:1. How much better is it to reprove, than to be angry, and not to hinder him that confesseth in prayer.

6. The only possible "good thing" that has come out of this occupation
Is that those with whom you a few years ago would have played tennis with, partied with, or (god forbid) may have married are now brightly shining out in the sunshine instead of living under their mental rocks. What this "war" has accomplished is a clarification of the haves and the have nots. Those, that is, with hearts and brains, and those that have none.

7. This nutcase either still believes that the Iraqis were involved...
...with 911, or he seriously believes that ALL Middle Easterners are out to kill Israelis and Americans.

As to his comments about Vietnam and the B-52 bombing raids, I seem to recall that WE left Vietnam and the North Vietnamese overran the South pretty soon after.

Furthermore, ol' Ray is still living in the defunct Cold War by the use of his term "PINKOS".

Sad to believe that there are so MANY Americans that believe exactly the same way as Ray...and they will all be voting for Junior in 2004.

9. I briefly saw Ted Rall rebutt sean hannity last night, while
spousal unit was monitoring Pox news - hannity was in a big huff, running on at the mouth about "we were ATTACKED," after Rall accused him of "pimping for this war for a couple of years." PIMPING for this war! I love it! I'm gonna start using that myself. It really fits.

10. It's very important that you respond to this letter in no uncertain terms
Take a stand against the lunacy.

Bush is on the offensive, business as usual, full steam ahead. Now is the time to bombard newspapers with our disgust. It's the weekend; write one. I am.

12. if the tables had been turned...
and Iraqis were doing this to US POWs, I wonder if this idiot would still be comparing it to frat stunts. I doubt it. He'd be screaming at the top of his lungs about how this proves that all Muslims, all Arabs, all Iraqis are evil and should be nuked.

16. Here's how I would respond
Perhaps Mr. Coleman may not outraged by the treatment of the Iraqi prisoners but he shares the stage with very few people. Those who have voiced disgust are President Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, John McCain. Well, I could go on and on, but you get the picture.

Beside, if the point of this treatment was to squeeze information, intelligence experts agree that this is a useless way of doing it. It doesn't work. So in addition to wrecking our standing in the world community, we probably didn't make ourselves any safer either.
