WTF is up with shrubco NOT closing down Abu Ghraib and blasting it to |
|
rubble? Even if they wanted to continue their nefarious torture campaign on the sly, you'd think they'd move it somewhere else just to avoid the symbolism and bad PR, especially now. Can these guys buy a clue.:wtf:

1. I want them to close it down but not blast it |
|
I think it needs to remain as a lasting testament of shame- a war memorial.

The only crime worse than destroying history is the history that took place there.

3. On Franken's show yesterday. . . |

Joe Conason made the point that if you blow it up, you also blow up all of the evidence of what really went on. I'm afraid that if there's any hope of getting to the bottom of all of this, he's right.
Also, it's not Shrubco's decision--or at least it shouldn't be. The Iraqi people need to decide what to do with it, not us. If they want to keep it standing as a reminder of what it represents, that's their right the same as it was Poland's right to keep Auschwitz standing, or any other society that made a similar decision.

It's not Bush's decision. It's not 'our' decision. It's up to the Iraqi people to decide. We are not their keepers.

The butchery, the maiming, the slaughter, the torture - this has been going on throughout Iraq for over a year. No Iraqi and only the most naive American would see this as anything more than a totally meaningless PR stunt. Release all the tens of thousands of Iraqis held by fasciat invaders and leave? That would mean something.

8. Who ever said they were thinking? |
|
The only thing it appears they ever thought about was how to protect the oil fields. Everything else was decided on the fly.

They weren't. At all.
The prime requirement of membership in BuchCo is that one must be an asshole.
Bush if the King of the Assholes.
And maybe this isn't a productive thing to say, but it's still true. The sumbitch is a freaking, moranic(tm) asshole.
