Ross Perot to consider a run to effect Bush. |
|
I read something yesterday that Ross Perot is to organize something to help defeat Bush. I wasn't clear as to whether he was to run himself or not. Man, I would welcome him wiht open arms.

this would be undeniable proof that a loving and merciful God does indeed exist.
O Lord, please let it be true!
Amen.

I know Perot is thought to have a pretty intense vendetta against the Bush family, but thought it might apply only to Poppy because (if I remember correctly) Perot endorsed the Shrub in 2000. I'd love to see Perot run because even if he didn't rack up the votes as much as he did in '96 and, especially, '92, he might be able to act as a "spoiler" in close states with lots of independents. Crossing my fingers...

Ross has lost a lot of credibility with his largely extinct reform party so a candidacy would be less effective than him simply taking out blocks of prime time TV and discussing what he sees as the problems of the current administration. I was never fond of his style but it certainly seemed to resonate with Republicans who defected in droves to support him in 92. A series of these TV spots and similar projects funded from Perot's bottomless pockets could do a lot of damage to Bush's reelection campaign and neutralize the financial advantage the GOP is touting of late.

I've been advocating that our nominee do a block of primetime in mid- September and November 1, 2004. If Perot can get to first place with infomercials by clearly explaining why his policy would be beneficial, we can take advantage of that tool also.
Bush gets his convention bounce after ours. We need an infomercial in the following week to dampen that bounce. It would give our ticket "the last word" with the voters. The infomercial on November 1st would attempt to reach the 7 to 10% of voters that are still undecided.
If we learn anything from Perot's candidacy in 1992, it's that political infomercials can and do work.

That's what I'm referring to. With a good half hour on TV, we don't have pundits on the screen telling viewers how to feel about what they had just seen. It would be up to the viewers themselves to decide how they feel. Weird, huh? lol..
With a really close race, the November 1st infomercial could be THE thing that tips the race to us. At that point, our ticket's weaknesses would be identified, and we could use the time to reassure voters about those issues and more.
Potential other topics of infomercials: - How Bush has failed us - Stories that the media have passed-over in favor of KobeTV - Our candidate's solutions to problems (a vision for America) - testimonials - Personal biographies
With George Soros' ACT organization scraping-together $75 million for GOTV efforts in 17 key states, we don't have to spend as much money on GOTV efforts. We could use some of that money for an hour or two on TV.
I've long lobbied for an informercial or two. With blogging so en vogue, maybe I can get the eventual nominee to listen.

10. Yes, Ross endorsed Little Boy Bush in 2000. |
|
He went on Larry King the Thursday night before the election, but the news was lost in the wake of the news (story broke just an hour or two earlier) that the tipsy Chimp had that previously undisclosed DUI arrest.
I’ll never figure out why Ross rolled over for the shrub. He is a strange one, that’s for sure. But if he’s up to contribute to deposing the dictator-wannabe, I welcome his contribution!

8. Perot sort of "Blew it" |
|
when he ran against Poppy Bush....
although he did get 17% of the vote - I think most of that was disgust on the part of voters at the choices... Repugs didn't like Clinton and they were disgusted with Poppy
But if you remember - Perot threw his hat into the ring, pulled it out again and then tossed it back in. Given that - I highly doubt if he would be able to siphon off sufficient votes to make a difference this time - if he runs
If you want to see a "party splitter" for the repugs - then get McCain in there

13. Perot Touts Fiscal Responsibility |
|
That has been his message from day one. Like many, including George Soros, he knows that running the government in the red is dangerous and will eventually destroy the country. He ran in 92 because Poppy was riding herd on the largest deficits ever. Now that Dumbya has outdone Poppy, I think Perot will throw his hat into the ring, just so Dumbya has to fight a primary battle.
