Anyone notice? Abu Ghraib completely eclipses Joseph Wilson's book... |
|
No, it's not a tin-hat post. I don't think even ShrubCo would offer up such a enormous, rancid red herring just to steal the thunder from yet another insider-critic.
But at least locally (1 store sample in Houston) sales of "The Politics of Truth" have been very slow. Is the public reaching their fill-line for Bush exposes?

2. My belief is that there is so much muck in this administration that |

we are drowing. None of these scandals are really getting the traction they need to be brought out in the open and corrected because of republican efforts to quiet them down with their total control of government, executive, legislative, and judicial. The only possibility of getting something done is to get them out of power.

3. Wilson got what, 1-2 weeks exposure before this story broke? |
|
And he was on CNN yesterday, The Daily Show last week, and I know I've seen him on other programs, maybe Larry King.
Honestly, I think the talk show circuit may have let the air out of the balloon by Wilson revealing too much on cable. Also, he cannot definitively and specifically name Libby or Abrams or Cheney, so that renders the "surprise" in the book a moot point. I know, I know, there is other great info in the book.

4. Excerpts from Wilson's book |
|
Have been (In my humble opinion) somewhat disappointing. A lot of it appears to be his opinion or maybe even speculation. There's no real RED MEAT in there that I can tell. Slow sales may be part of the content of the book as opposed to competing news stories...although they certainly didn't help.

Abu Ghraib completely eclipses Joseph Wilson's book...
It sometimes seems that we are being jerked from one scandal to the next so fast that it's dizzying.
I don't think even ShrubCo would offer up such a enormous, rancid red herring... just to steal the thunder from yet another insider-critic.
They took their time responding to what was going on didn't they? When did all this begin? Back last November, from what I understand... at least that's when it hit the fan. BUT, it got hushed up until now. In some ways, it seems almost too convenient... except for the fact that there have been so many scandalous events we've heard about since 2000 that it actually boggles the brain.
I do think that Joe Wilson's best bet publicity-wise is to get on TV to talk about his book. I think those Americans who read books were already informed about what he has to say. The book just fleshes out his case with more specifics. The average American really does not read books... for a lot of reasons including being just too busy; it's not always lack of interest or caring. TV is the ONLY way to get the word out to the masses of people.

will get proper attention not from his book, but when the investigation starts to hold grand jury hearings, or when he and his wife start a civil suit, and can depose people. Look for this to occure in the mid-to late- summer. Done properly, this will create more problems for cheney than people realize.

10. I still want to see Cheney in jail for insider trading. |
|
(Yeah, frog march him.) KNEW that Halliburton was taking on a big liability with buying Dresser industries and asbestos claims, sold at the highest price of $55, then when asbestos stuff came out Price dropped to $13.
JAIL FOR CHENEY.

"Worse Than Watergate" makes the very same point, along with many others. I recommend it if you haven't already read it!

12. Personally I am currently burnt out on Bush Books. . . |
|
and just can't make myself read another one right now. . .
However, Wilson's charges are going to get plenty of attention when the indictment comes down.

13. I did notice that, and thought it was too bad. |

But the abuse scandal is so much worse than the Plame scandal that that's as far as I got.
