Nuance-Using the Language FOR Kerry and playing the game
I'm sick and tired of hearing the pundits talk about the *nuanced* things Kerry says as if that is a negative. I'm going to use and embrace the word nuance in my daily speech, except that I'm going to expand upon it in the same sentence.

For example, nuance also means *polish*, nitty-gritty, meaningful, significant, as in, Kerry gave a speech that was nuanced-it's great to see someone get down to the real nitty-gritty with the facts as opposed to a one-note simplistic answer.

Turn the tables and make the use of language a strong force FOR Kerry. Use the word in other settings, with an explanation of how great it is. Don't let the pundits make Nuance into a dirty word that means ineffective-because it's NOT.

1. I agree with you
Nuance is definitely not a dirty word. Nuance is not for simpletons, people who can only see black and white. However, if you want their votes...

2. Also: detailed, thoughtful, thought-out, complex... Intelligent
I agree that we need more words for "beyond slogans and sound-bytes" (which have become synonymous with "message," unfortunately).

I also think it goes to intelligence in general, and think if we do need slogans, "Intelligence Matters" would be a good one.
